It is indeed a major honor to be recognized as the Chief Data Officer of the Year 🙏. I am humbled to learn that my contributions to the Data Science and Analytics community have been recognised. I was in two minds after completion of my doctoral studies - whether to join academics or venture into the industry. Even then, in the industry should I continue in the field of Chemical Engineering or follow my passion around data and solve business problems - something I learned at Sloan and during my PhD work. I am glad I ventured out into the field of Data Sciences. Data sciences is an ever evolving field. Back in the 1990s the focus was on dimensional modeling to build data warehouses and data marts, and business intelligence. Two decades later we still build similar systems except that now we are dealing with large volumes of data getting generated at high velocity. That is Big Data. Machine learning algorithms developed in the 1980s and 1990s are finding practical relevance now. GenAI is the youngest kid in the block. I believe over time we will find Quantum AI and its ability to handle petabytes of data become a reality. Thanks #StrategINK for this great honor!
