Our democracy is feudalism + Right to adult franchise. A leader can block as much fast moving traffic in Mumbai suburbs for some road show. Outcome, thousands of not millions are trapped in traffic for 5 hours. - A police officer can hit general public at its will even if he demand legitimate things -Without corruption no government work is possible. -After paying close to 40% tax on purchase of a Mid Size SUV, you can’t escape the vicious cycle of pothole roads. - You become Neta, Babu or contractor. You are set for entire life without any work and accountability. - Judicial Inconsistency is sine qua non virtue of Indian judiciary. Where jurisprudence vary as per your power and money. - Everyone looks down on other in term of social capital which derives its worth from money and muscle power. - country not able to build single city which is liveable. Fully blackpilled can’t see any hope of improvement as I am watching election discourse.

The funny or sad thing I’ve noticed on UPSC results day is: When interviewed by regional language TV channels of their respective states, typically the toppers (even when hailing from a privileged background), come up with (glaringly obvious) contrived sob story of seeing lack of electricity/roads when they visited their native village when young. There is nothing wrong in openly admitting the prestige aspect and the Indian society hyping up the image of IAS. That’s the reason, most admits from other wings with great scope for service like IPS, IFS etc. keep retrying for the moonshot. The flawed exam/ interview process that cannot guage the fit of a candidate for the role is another story altogether. Parents/ society (especially poor households) condition kids to aim big for IAS irrespective of their skills/talent and they toil most of their prime years and use up all the attempts for the coveted prize, without a plan B in hand. And if they don’t get it, they live with lifelong guilt/trauma that they failed the family. The BookMyShow ticketing experience for the upcoming Coldplay India tour was frustrating to put it mildly, with multiple sign-outs and a queue system that felt more like an endurance test (especially when you had already put in hours planning for it prior).   Definitely gained a newfound appreciation for what we do at Amazon. Whether its handling the retail frenzy of Prime Days, Black Fridays, Cyber Mondays or delighting the millions of viewers streaming Thursday Night Football on Prime Video, Amazon has mastered the art of scalability and reliability in the face of extreme demand.   Ensuring customer trust during high-stakes moments is crucial. When customers are eagerly awaiting a limited product or service, a seamless, frustration-free experience is non-negotiable. Anything less can damage brand loyalty and reputation.   PS: Did manage the tickets finally (which felt like capturing lightning in a bottle). Will be checking off a major item on my bucket list come Jan 19th.

Are you in suffering? It is possible to not to suffer "The death of mind is the end of death."  ~ The Upanishads # Vedanta is not concerned with your body We are obviously not talking about one particular moment of physical death here. What happens to the body is not too much a concern with Vedanta. Vedanta is not the science of the body. Vedanta is not very concerned without anatomy. Vedanta is concerned with our suffering, and it is not the body that suffers. The body might get hurt, wounded, diseased or aged, but it never suffers. # Mind is the sufferer, not the body The body can become an object in the field of suffering, but the body itself is never the experiencer of suffering. The mind can suffer when the body is in pain. The sufferer is always the mind. The mind is the subject, the sufferer, and it is possible that the subject, mind, is suffering because the object, body, is in pain. # You always have a choice But that’s not a compulsion upon the mind. The mind has a choice: the mind always has a choice whether it wants to suffer or realize. Vedanta is concerned with suffering; therefore, Vedanta is concerned with the mind. Let’s please remember, the body never suffers. A particular condition of the body can cause suffering in the mind, can potentially cause suffering in the mind, not necessarily. # You can choose to not to suffer The body is in one configuration, the mind says, “The body is healthy, therefore I am satisfied.” The body shifts to another configuration, the mind says, “The body is not alright, the body is diseased, the body is paining, and because the body is paining, therefore I am suffering.” That’s a decision made by the mind. And as it is with every decision, here, again, the discretion or indiscretion of the decision-maker is involved. So, the aim of Vedanta is to bring discretion to the mind so that the mind does not suffer. The subject matter of Vedanta is the mind and its suffering and Vedanta wants to put an end to the suffering of the mind. # Happiness is cheap substitute of Joy It is not your nature to suffer. Nobody likes to suffer. It’s an obvious thing. We are not dealing with the stars here; we are dealing with ourselves here, and there is nobody who finds joy in sorrow. # If the mind exists, it will suffer Having seen that the mind and suffering are just one thing—they cannot be separated, the mind and suffering are just one thing. It is not even proper to say that the mind suffers; it is more accurate to say the mind is suffering. Because when you say the mind suffers, you entertain yourself with the hope that it is possible that the mind may not suffer, and that’s not possible. If the mind is, it will suffer. If the mind exists, it will suffer. So, the mind is suffering. Therefore, if you want to bring an end to the suffering, you have to bring the mind to an end, and that’s what this verse is referring to.

Leadership Traits – Learning from the T20 Cricket World Cup Now that the World Cup victory has sunk in, there are no doubts in anyone's mind that the person behind the scenes who made it possible was the India cricket team coach and mentor, Rahul Dravid! For me, there are a few traits of Rahul Dravid that stand out and inspire me, applicable to leaders across different fields, whether corporate or cricket. Passion – A rare scene of an animated Rahul Dravid holding the T20 World Cup simply exhibits passion - "Passionate leadership is the capacity to translate a vision into reality" Persistence – Rahul, captain of the 2007 ODI World Cup (India exited in the first round), Head Coach of the 2023 ODI World Cup (India lost in the finals), and the 2024 T20 World Cup (India became World Champions).These roles demonstrate persistent traits towards a common goal - "Persistence is a virtue that shapes great leaders" Humility – Passing the credit to the players, appreciating the captain for his actions, and being the last person to hold the cup—these are virtues much adored in leadership - "Humility in leadership means understanding that the team's success comes before personal accolades" Certainly, there were many other traits seen during the match, like lateral thinking—such as the decision to send Axar Patel up the order, which was among the key decisions of the match, exhibiting out-of-the-box thinking and decisive decision-making. One key lesson I learned from great leaders in Amazon #AmazonIndia #BiasForAction without #Ownership and #DiveDeep leads to disasters and unhappy customers / partners. "Dive Deep" without "Bias For Action" and "Ownership" leads to analysis paralysis. "Ownership" without "Bias for Action" and "Dive Deep" leads to turf-wars and territorial mind-set. Balance is required to become a successful leader who can consistently deliver value in a sustained manner. India's Lok Sabha polling is underway. And the integrity of the electoral process is under scrutiny. Amidst concerns of fraud and manipulation, claims of one party trying to influence voters are being raised by the other. This is, however, not something new. We see this in every election, be it state or national level. Blockchain technology, with its decentralized architecture and immutable ledger, addresses the vulnerabilities inherent in traditional voting systems. Each vote is recorded as a transaction on the blockchain, ensuring that it cannot be altered or manipulated. Efforts are thus being made to utilize BCT for voting. Horizon State has made some significant advancements. They have made a secure digital ballot box wherein participants will use decision tokens (HST) to cast their votes from a mobile phone or PC, which are then logged into an immutable blockchain and used to reliably verify the outcome of the election. This approach eliminates the possibility of manipulation, recording errors, or tampering. Beyond elections, this system holds promise for facilitating decision-making in settings where resources and authority are shared, thereby encouraging greater participation. Real-world trials of blockchain-based elections are also underway. For instance, in November 2018, the Thai Democrat Party utilized ZCoin to conduct its primary election for selecting a new party leader, making it the first large-scale political election to utilize blockchain technology. The election garnered a total of 127,479 votes from across Thailand. On a lazy day, stumbled upon this masterpiece from the great Amitabh Bachchan on how to deal with life challenges and felt like sharing it here. According to him, if things don't happen according to your wish, it's even better. This is because they are happening according to the wish of some Divine force, and that Divine force will never think ill about you. So you have to respect that as being better. Life is a struggle, and as long as there is life, there is going to be struggle. If we accept this, we will be better prepared to deal with the challenges that come our way. We should not sit in despondency, but rather be aware that tomorrow is another day, which could be profitable or not, but eventually there will be another day when we can start trying all over again. The fear of those ugly moments recurring is perhaps what drives us every day.
