The coming weeks are are going to learn Terraform in 7.0 as it is one of the most common provisioning IAC in companies like Walmart Amazon Flipkart Atlassian etc. Terraform is a tool for building, changing, and versioning infrastructure safely and efficiently. Terraform can manage existing and popular service providers as well as custom in-house solutions. The key features of Terraform are: Infrastructure as Code: Infrastructure is described using a high-level configuration syntax. This allows a blueprint of your datacenter to be versioned and treated as you would any other code. Additionally, infrastructure can be shared and re-used. Execution Plans: Terraform has a "planning" step where it generates an execution plan. The execution plan shows what Terraform will do when you call apply. This lets you avoid any surprises when Terraform manipulates infrastructure. Resource Graph: Terraform builds a graph of all your resources, and parallelizes the creation and modification of any non-dependent resources. Because of this, Terraform builds infrastructure as efficiently as possible, and operators get insight into dependencies in their infrastructure. Change Automation: Complex changesets can be applied to your infrastructure with minimal human interaction. With the previously mentioned execution plan and resource graph, you know exactly what Terraform will change and in what order, avoiding many possible human errors. I recently completed a hands-on project Under the guidance of Shubham Londhe sir that combines Docker and Jenkins in a CI/CD pipeline, automating the build and deployment of a Node.js application. Using a webhook, the pipeline automatically triggers whenever a new commit is pushed to the GitHub repository, making deployments faster, more reliable, and seamless. Project Highlights: - Code Integration: The pipeline pulls code changes directly from GitHub, ensuring the latest updates are always live. - Automated Docker Build: Each update automatically builds a Docker image, simplifying versioning and rollback capabilities. - Continuous Deployment: It deploys a fresh Docker container in seconds, automatically stopping any running container with the same name. - Webhooks in Action: The webhook integration triggers the pipeline instantly with each new commit, minimizing manual intervention. Hi Folks, Lets talk more on kubernetes in continuation to series Services: - Pods can be restarted but what if its IP address fails then in that case we use Services - Persistent endpoints for pods - Use Labels to Select Pods - Internal or External IPs - 3 types of services: a. Cluster IP - internal IP b. Tight node - external IP that's externally accessible c. Load Balancing - Adds load balancer from the cloud provider which forced traffic from service to node within in. Monolith Config file Exploration: selector - which automatically finds and expose any pods with the labels. Read the yaml file and Replicas Scaling: Done by updating the replicas on the deployment manifest. - Deployments manage replica sets. - Each deployment is mapped to one active replica set. - We can update the yaml file and then 1 frontend service will map to different pods created in the backend. Rolling update: - To manage the versioning we can update the yaml file - Then apply changes to the file. - check the version with the describe commands.

Change the access permissions of files to make them readable, writable, and executable by the owner only. 3. Check the last 10 commands you have run. 4. Remove a directory and all its contents. 5. Create a fruits.txt file, add content (one fruit per line), and display the content. 6. Add content in devops.txt (one in each line) - Apple, Mango, Banana, Cherry, Kiwi, Orange, Guava. Then, append "Pineapple" to the end of the file. 7. Show the first three fruits from the file in reverse order. 8. Show the bottom three fruits from the file, and then sort them alphabetically. 9. Create another file Colors.txt, add content (one color per line), and display the content. 10.Add content in Colors.txt (one in each line) - Red, Pink, White, Black, Blue, Orange, Purple, Grey. Then, prepend "Yellow" to the beginning of the file. 🚀 What Happens When a Kubernetes Master Node Fails? Kubernetes, of course, is built to be naturally fault-tolerant—even if a master node or any crucial components go down, your system should survive and keep running (except it can no longer initialize new objects). So,🤔 what happens if the master node fails? How does Kubernetes solve this problem? A Master Node Failure: When the master node fails, it takes down other components such as the API Server, Controller Manager, and Scheduler. 🔄 This leads to a degradation of scheduling, control loops, and API requests serving capabilities of the cluster. 🔧 How Kubernetes Handles the Issue: Controller Manager Switches to Standby: In High Availability (HA) setups, Kubernetes uses multiple master nodes. The failover is detected by the Controller Manager and Scheduler on standby nodes. They virtualize management and supervision of the control loops by assuming the leadership role. etcd Redundancy & Recovery: etcd is the key-value store where cluster state is stored. Etcd has multiple replicas in HA configurations. If one etcd member breaks down, the other replicas continue to maintain cluster data integrity. Load Balancer Flips to the New Master Node:  The load balancer within the cluster detects the unavailability of the API server and starts routing traffic to the new master node. 💡 Recreate and Change Master Nodes: Kubernetes does not automatically "recreate" a master node. Instead, the HA setup helps control plane components running on other nodes take over leadership seamlessly with little or no downtime. However, in the case of a single master node setup, manual intervention is needed to recover the master node. 🔐 Best Practices: 1. Set up a multi-master node HA configuration. 2. Regularly back up etcd data to recover lost cluster state. 3. Set up monitoring and alerts to catch failures as early as possible. Looking to understand how Kubernetes (K8s) manages and orchestrates containers? Kubernetes provides a highly scalable and flexible architecture that automates the deployment, scaling, and operations of application containers across clusters of hosts. Here’s how the Kubernetes Architecture works: ✅ Master Node The Master Node is the control center of Kubernetes. It manages the cluster and coordinates all activities, including scheduling, scaling, and updating applications. Key components of the Master Node: - API Server is the front-end interface for Kubernetes. It processes requests and communicates with all other components. - ETCD (Key-Value Store) stores all cluster data and configuration details in a highly available and consistent manner. - Controller ensures that the desired state of the cluster is maintained by managing workload states. - Scheduler assigns work to worker nodes based on available resources and other factors. ✅ Worker Nodes Worker nodes host the containers and carry out the tasks assigned by the master node. Each worker node has the following components: - Kubelet is an agent that ensures containers are running in a pod and reports back to the master. - Pods are the smallest and simplest Kubernetes object.
