I'm highly optimistic (and ambitious) about India's education sector It's amazing to see how quickly #drones are becoming a part of the educational landscape worldwide, and I think we’re just scratching the surface of their potential to revolutionize STEM learning. What excites me most is how drone sports—especially Drone Soccer—is making #STEM accessible, relatable, and FUN for young learners. For instance, the U.S. is already ahead with youth leagues for Drone Soccer, integrating drones with STEM curriculums that teach students not just how to operate, but also how to strategize, communicate, and problem-solve. And it’s not stopping there! Countries in Europe and Asia are catching on, treating drone sports as a means of inspiring creativity and resilience in students. 🏆 Imagine the impact on education in India if we embed this hands-on approach in our own schools. In my Edutainment and Leisure course with Dr. Miri Firth PFHEA, I’ve been exploring the exciting ways education and entertainment can intersect to create engaging learning experiences. For my research, I’ve chosen to focus on DJI a leader in drone technology that is also making significant strides in educational initiatives. DJI’s programs introduce young learners to the world of robotics, drones, and STEM fields, blending high-tech innovation with engaging educational content. This raises intriguing questions about how companies like DJI can maintain a balance between education and entertainment in their programs. 🚀 Why Drones are the Perfect Tool for Enhancing STEM learning in Your Classroom🚀 Drones are taking over, not just outside in the air, but in our schools as well. As more STEM educators are looking to introduce drones into the classroom, it's crucial to ensure the payoff for our students by teaching them life-altering skills. If you want to make a lifelong impact on your students, here are three skills for educators to focus on. 1️⃣ Analytical Thinking: Teach students to dissect flight challenges, breaking them down into manageable components. By analyzing mechanical issues and flight patterns, they can develop strategies to overcome obstacles and optimize drone performance. Being patient, identifying problems, and correcting them will serve them well not only in your Drone focused course, but well beyond. 2️⃣ Teamwork : In the dynamic world of drone technology, collaboration is key. Encourage teamwork among students, fostering an environment where they can brainstorm ideas, share expertise, and collectively devise innovative aerial solutions. The communication, written, and collaborative skills will be 3️⃣ Resilience: I often tell our students that if you have ever flown a drone, you’ve likely crashed one as well. Teaching students to continue their journeys as pilots, despite crashes, mechanical issues when building, or simply being afraid is one of the most powerful skills we can help them develop. Many of my students in the past have been afraid to take their first flight, because they don’t want to be embarrassed, or they are afraid they’ll break something irreplaceable, but I always do my best to make them feel comfortable and let them know that as long as they follow instructions, stay safe and have fun, they’ll learn. That technique has never failed me. By integrating these principles into drone education, we empower future drone enthusiasts to navigate challenges with confidence and creativity. It’s been 8 years of drone piloting and instruction for me, and we have reached over 10,000 students at Global Air. And today’s STEM educators are in an even better position to do more. Sharing My Journey: From Robotics STEM Instructor to Defense Tech Innovator 🛡️ Reflecting on my journey fills me with immense gratitude and excitement. Starting as a robotics STEM instructor, I embarked on a quest to learn electronics through real-world experiences, even working without stipends to gain invaluable knowledge. This path led me to prestigious roles at DRDO and Omnipresent Robot Tech, contributing to groundbreaking projects like the ISRO SSLV launch 🚀and the Pragyaan Rover. But the real pinnacle of my journey came with the decision to start my own company. It's been an exhilarating ride, filled with innovation and the opportunity to collaborate with the superheroes of our nation's defense forces. Meeting and working alongside these remarkable individuals, including Vir Chakra awarded officers🏅, Sena Medal awardees, and Kargil heroes, has been an honor beyond words. Shaking hands, Evening tea, and Lunch with these real life superheroes that i see everyday trending on YT Shorts and Insta Reels is again beyond my words. Every day in my role, I'm privileged to push the boundaries of technology, creating solutions tailored for our special forces.
