Day 7 & 8 - UniBridge 2024, Cohort 1 Our journey brought us to #Hamilton, where we had the privilege of engaging with The University of Waikato. Known for its commitment to fostering global connections and academic excellence, the university provided a fantastic platform for in-depth discussions. Our delegation of Indian universities engaged with Sharon Calvert, Margaret Anderson, Nathan Cooper, Geoff Holmes, Jaydene Meadows & Jason Matangi to explore avenues for study tours, inbound mobility to India, and semester immersion programs that would enable students from both nations to gain meaningful cross-cultural experiences. The conversations highlighted shared goals of creating impactful pathways that enhance student learning and broaden institutional reach. The University of Waikato’s innovative approach to education and openness to collaboration inspired us and made us optimistic about the potential for transformative partnerships. Day 5 & 6 - UniBridge 2024, Cohort 1 Our journey took us to #Wellington, New Zealand’s vibrant capital city, where we had the privilege of visiting the prestigious Victoria University of Wellington. Known for its strong academic reputation and innovative programs, the university provided a platform for meaningful discussions around fostering academic collaboration, research partnerships, and opportunities for student mobility. A highlight of our visit was engaging with key Crown agencies—Education New Zealand | Manapou ki te Ao (Ben McNally-Burn), Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and the High Commission of India, Wellington, New Zealand. These interactions offered invaluable insights into the support systems and policies that facilitate smoother pathways for Indian students and institutions to connect with New Zealand. Wellington, with its rich cultural charm and commitment to education excellence, left us inspired to continue building partnerships that drive meaningful impact for students and educators alike. Adding to the excitement, the delegation got a glimpse into Wellington’s creative powerhouse by visiting Weta Digital, the globally renowned visual effects company behind some of the world’s most iconic films, showcasing the city’s unique blend of education, innovation, and creativity. Over the two days, our delegation of Directors of International Engagement from leading Indian universities - Preeti Nair, Dr. Sadiqa Abbas, Shweta Apte & Asif Rampurawala had the privilege of visiting the prestigious University of Otago, one of New Zealand’s oldest and most respected institutions. The highlight of this leg was an exceptionally well-organized series of meetings, where our delegation engaged deeply with each faculty at the University of Otago. These interactions were rich in ideas, focusing on exploring opportunities for academic collaboration, research partnerships, and exchange programs that would create impactful pathways for students and institutions alike. Adding to the inspiration was the incredible opportunity to witness the Graduation Day Parade—a truly memorable celebration where hundreds of Otago students proudly walked the streets of Dunedin in their academic regalia, marking the culmination of their hard work and dedication. This vibrant tradition showcased not just academic excellence but also the deep community spirit that defines the University of Otago. 13 years ago, we began our journey with humble beginnings, a dream to connect students with world-class education, and a strong belief in the transformative power of knowledge. Today, as Estero Education Services celebrates this milestone, we reflect on the challenges, triumphs, and unwavering support that has brought us here. In 2021, we ventured into university partnerships, starting with a single Indian institution. With little precedent and no guarantees, we leapt. The response was overwhelming—30+ articulation agreements signed, active student mobility, and academic exchanges blossomed. New Zealand universities supported us unconditionally, and Indian universities embraced us with open arms, providing platforms to drive impactful conversations. Today, as we celebrate this journey, we are thrilled to announce #UniBridge, a 10-day delegation of Indian universities visiting New Zealand, supported by Education New Zealand | Manapou ki te Ao and esteemed New Zealand universities. This delegation will engage in meaningful dialogues with university leadership, explore campuses, and interact with key government bodies like Education New Zealand and Immigration New Zealand. This initiative also enjoys the gracious support of the New Zealand High Commissioner to India, who hosted our Indian university partners at his residence, underscoring the importance of education in strengthening India-New Zealand ties.
