“Shai is a one of a kind guy passionate and professional he drives people and systems forward with a powerful grace. From the get go I knew I would work with the most skilled developer in our branch as he finished highly in academics and the officers course where we spent time together. I was very lucky to have learned and develop with shai. Since the army he has only gone even further at startups and big tech. I really envy and company who gets him.”

Take a look at this picture. It was taken today at our Salesforce offices in Tel-Aviv. It shows a few dozens of Salesforce Israel employees in one of our regular all-hands meetings. What's so special about that? Well, that picture was taken exactly 36 hours after Iran launched a massive aerial strike against Israel with 100s of UCAVs, ballistic and cruise missiles carrying about 60 tons(!) of explosives. Thanks to the Israeli Air force, the air forces of the US, UK, France, Jordan and others *and* Israeli innovation and engineering talent who developed the most advanced multi-layered air defense systems in the world - luckily that attack ended up with relatively low impact. It was a sleepless night for all us in Israel who got an advanced notice of the attack and basically spent that night bracing for impact. Now take another look at this picture. 36 hours later - People showing up at the office, talking to each other, having a few laughs, having meetings, discussing deadlines, solving business problems, discussing engineering problems, doing demos, having coffee and lunch together, having an all-hands meeting together. 36 hours ago we were bracing for impact of 60 tons of explosives that were about to fall out of the sky. Take another look at this picture - This is how resilience looks like. You can count on us. We deliver. No matter what. https://lnkd.in/eXSvz3xv

At OX Security, we're on a mission to exterminate the manual processes in AppSec that are eating away at our efficiency—much like locusts in a field! 🦗 Our latest research, presented at Black Hat 2024 by Eyal Paz and Liad Cohen, uncovers a swarm of hidden dangers: transitive vulnerabilities in software dependencies. While developers often rely on standard outputs to spot vulnerabilities, our findings show that this is just scratching the surface. Read our latest research report to see how we can protect our software fields from being overrun: https://lnkd.in/esSEiWFc #AppSec #CyberSecurity #DevSecOps #BlackHat2024 #SoftwareSecurity #TransitiveLocusts

What causes the extra explosions? 🤔 a. Fireworks (the house was used to store fireworks). b. Israel's sophisticated weapon. c. Missiles (the house was used as a terror house and a warehouse for missiles aimed at civilian populations in Israeli territory). Hint: The answer is neither a nor b. These are the methods of Hezbollah use the civilian population as a human shield, just like the methods of their monstrous and cowardly twin brother Hamas ISIS.

What's Your Unique Career Experience? = When you join a new office, sometimes this question is asked to new employees to introduce themselves: What's Your Unique Career Experience? For Intel Corporation employees, it is this: We Witnessed End Of Free Coffee = Intel employees arriving at the company’s offices in Israel this morning were met with an unpleasant surprise: the once well-stocked kitchenettes, offering complimentary coffee, tea, and fruit as is typical in high-tech offices, were now empty. A single sign stood on the counter: “Fruit and beverage service update. Free coffee, tea, and fruit service will end on 27.10.2024.” This change came after the end of the holiday period in Israel. “This may lead to further employee departures,” one Intel Israel employee told Calcalist. “This comes on top of losing company vehicles and cuts to stock options. A 'small' thing like coffee really affects employees—it's just embarrassing.” Intel, facing one of its most challenging crises, announced in August a large-scale cost-cutting plan that includes laying off 15,000 employees, representing over 15% of its workforce. This process includes substantial layoffs within Intel Israel. Layoffs will begin in earnest this week, with managers scheduling meetings with employees selected for redundancy to issue termination letters. Employees will have time to decide whether to accept voluntary retirement packages or proceed to an official hearing to present their case. Those leaving Intel will have access to counseling and career services, including job search assistance, interview preparation, resume workshops, and even psychological support. In total, hundreds are expected to lose their jobs. Another morale-crushing measure is the elimination of company cars. Intel employees at level 7 or above were previously entitled to either a company car or a 3,650-shekel allowance. Removing this benefit effectively reduces salaries by about 10% for many employees. At a recent meeting, staff questioned Intel Israel’s co-CEO Karin Eibschitz-Segal on whether this was legal, given it’s essentially a salary reduction. “The response was vague: ‘We reviewed all aspects, and this is the decision,’” the employee said. “When they cut salaries by 5% before, every employee had to sign off. Now they’re making larger cuts without consent, even though it’s likely in the employment terms.” According to the employee, these measures could lead to more staff resignations beyond the 15% planned: “If the aim was to retain 85% of the workforce, the outcome could be different. The concern is that the best employees—the ones with more options—are the first to leave. It’s a risky approach.” = What's Your Unique Career Experience? My unique experience is this: My Silicon Valley startup Atoga Systems (a Telecom Godbox Feature Factory) sold for half million dollars in 2003 I bought my Silicon Valley home for one million dollars in 2010 ... which I sold for $1.2 million profit in 2023.

I did not invest in Firefly. In fact, the first time I heard of this venture was probably after learning about their CTO/ Co-Founder, Sefi Genis, who tragically lost his life at the Nova music festival on October 7th. Later, I got acquainted with Ido Neeman, the CEO/ Co-Founder, and discovered that Firefly had an ongoing business relationship with one of our portfolio companies. Sefi’s and Firefly’s story touched me deeply on a personal level. As an early-stage investor, when evaluating new teams, we often consider many risks—most of which are difficult to even hypostatize. We think of risks, such as lack of PMF, challenges to achieve traction, etc. However, it's unimaginable to think that a startup founder/ CTO might meet such a tragic fate as Sefi did. I followed Firefly’s journey from afar, occasionally exchanging messages with Ido. The interview Ido gave to Moshe Zilberstein from Next47 was incredibly moving, highlighting not only outstanding personal resilience but also extraordinary business resilience—exactly the kind of strength early-stage investors look for in their portfolio founders. The way Ido explained how they coped after realizing Sefi was gone, and how he and the entire Firefly team grew from such a profound moment of grief, speaks volumes about the essence of the Israeli tech industry. R.I.P Sefi Genis. Am Israel Chai. Way to go Firefly team! Link to the interview - https://lnkd.in/ec2ZgWvC

TL;DR: We had interns, they did great work, and I am super proud of them and thankful to Google and especially Alon Cohen, Moran Otorgust, Tehila Gourary, Shaked Tal, Netanel Persik, Yoav Yanovski who let me take part in this initiative, Not So short version: I am a big supporter of on-the-job-training. I believe our education system is fundamentally broken and the entire way we train people for both work and life needs to change. When I heard from Shaked that this is a possibility, I started looking for what type of tasks in my domain they can take on. “What kind of skills do they have?” “Basic python”. “I can work with that”. Our highschool interns wrote api tests that verify api credentials for the integration lab. They also wrote selenium automation that does the same for UI credentials. They did meaningful work, and they got paid for it, much better than working the usual summer jobs highschoolers get. So yeah, We had to match the tasks to the programmers, We had to help them a bit with ramp-up, and working with juniors means spending more time supporting them. But now they are almost fully independent, picking up their own tasks, managing most of the development and testing themselves, Just goes to show you how quickly people can learn and become productive with the right motivation. This is useful work, and they were only here for a month, working 3 days a week. Imagine what we could’ve done if we had them for longer. I’m super proud of you Daria Dvoeglazova, Darina Grinkrug, Roman Tymoshchuk, Hadas Zelibanski, shlomit abaye, and feel a great satisfaction to have been a part of on-boarding you to the tech industry.

Over the past decade, I have reviewed over 1,000 cv's in search for the best team members to join our team. I see a lot of people in Israel in need of jobs these days so sharing some tips from my experience as a manager and Organizational Psychologist that I hope can be helpful. If you have any questions or additional insights, please feel free to comment below or pm me. I divided the job-seeking journey into 4 stages: 1. Self-reflection 2. CV building 3. Networking 4. “Dating” your future boss In this post I will cover some pointers for the first 3 stages. Next post will cover pointers for the last stage. *Self-reflection* 1. Self-reflection and understanding what you are good at and what you are passionate about. 2. Who are you - Need to be able to answer this in 2-3 lines at the top of the CV. Are you a manager and looking to be in a leadership role or more of a hands-on executive? Is your focus marketing/sales/coding/project management? Pro tip: Ask your friends to be honest with you and share the value they see you bring. It will crystalize your own view as well. *CV and LinkedIn profile* 1. CV building - how does your future boss know you are great at what you do? What success and impact did you have that you can articulate with numbers? 2. The design is great. But the most important is the content. Make sure clear description in the header what you do and keep it short, with bullet points and a 1-pager. Make sure no mistakes. If there is even 1 typo, it is a no-go. 3. Passion talks. Years ago I hired a young man with very little experience because he came with great passion and told me how he taught himself code at age 11. See how you can find that story that highlights your greatness. *Networking* 1. Networking and asking friends for an intro or to put in a good word. Identify 10 people you will have coffee with to brainstorm your career. Some will give you great advice. Others will give you a good lead. 2. Don't only think about networking with those who can give you the job today but rather with those who know people that can help you. 3. The best way to build trust is to show your work in action. I once hired someone because he reached out and explained to me in a loom video why one of my client websites stinked and how that can be fixed. He didn't tell me what he does but showed me. What tips have you found as a manager that you would give future employees?

ONLINE BOOKING FOR MEDICAL CENTERS ---- Back in Russia, it was a must. You don't have online booking - patients will go to a clinic that has it. Period. Here in Israel Health IT and service level in medical centers is way less advanced (but the doctors are way better 😁), but it's gonna change. And we are working on that=) All clinics using our solution have online booking, and, hopefully, the number of them will increase. We've been doing online booking for over 10 years, and yes, we know A LOT about it. Online booking helps you: 1. Increase site conversion level up to 2x 2. Increase the level of patient's service 3. Lower costs on call-center. So, here is a short story in our blog: https://lnkd.in/eUHaHDjq

𝐃𝐨 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧? 🥓 Google invests billions in 🇮🇱 Israeli technologies and companies. Some of Google's (or Alphabet Inc.'s) largest acquisitions have been Israeli innovations, from Waze ($1.3Bn acquisition in 2013) to Wiz ($23Bn acquisition discussions in 2024). Yet, the 𝑩𝑫𝑺 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, which promotes boycotting 🇮🇱 Israeli products, happily uses Google services to spread their message. For instance, the 𝐍𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩, which helps consumers avoid Israeli products in supermarkets, has over 1 million downloads. Ironically, these users are consuming ads and paying Google for the privilege, all while using the 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐎𝐒, another Alphabet Inc. product. This contradiction reveals a lack of a moral compass guiding the BDS movement. It's all about convenience. They boycott Israeli canned goods, fresh produce, and other small items but rely on Israeli technology to identify products to boycott! As a carnivore, I used to love cheese and crackers, couldn't resist the smell of bacon, and enjoyed all kinds of cakes. But as a vegan, none of those appeal to me anymore because I refrain from eating animal products. I commend people who devote themselves to a specific way of life they believe in. However, I think a lot less of those, like BDS supporters, who make noise but don't follow through with their convictions. FUN FACT - Israel's 🍉 Watermelon harvest is greater than any other Middle Eastern (Arab) country and 6X Palestinian production (89M tons). 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥, or don't. Love Jews, or don't. I don't care either way. Just make up your mind and follow through. If you're a vegan, don't eat bacon. 🌱
