Definitely one of the best teams I’ve met and worked with in the local tech scene. Run:ai ✨ But a few more reasons why this acquisition is awesome. 1. Nvidia appreciates us & keeps on doubling-down on the Israeli startup ecosystem. After the huge success with Mellanox the Giant is here to stay. That’s great. Again - I’d say that a big part of it belongs to Eyal Waldman. 2. Israel will get stronger, or at least keep on track within the race to AI. 3. Timing: especially now. When Israel is threatened and facing different attacks, and some big challenges. While many of us are not at our best (to say the least) and fight for our future - Nvidia knows what great innovation we have here, how great the teams are - and closing such a deal. 4. Just like many other great things we’ve seen recently, also this innovation starts with science. Education is important! 5. A small reason to smile and feel proud of our tech industry. Happy news. We are proud to provide a platform for Israeli companies leading the field of innovation, and to share with you the impressive achievement of the Israeli company aiOla, operating in the field of Speech to Text technology. 🗣️💬 Professor Yossi Keshet, Chief Scientist, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering, and a concurrently appointed Professor in the Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences, presented a groundbreaking development of a new AI model called Whisper-Medusa. This model combines aiOla's technology with OpenAI's Whisper model, thereby improving the speed of automatic speech recognition by more than 50% without compromising accuracy. How is this done? aiOla's model is able to predict 10 tokens (data units) simultaneously, while OpenAI's original Whisper model predicts only one token at a time. Professor Keshet explains that in traditional industries, such as medicine, existing transcription systems  are not adapted to recognize words from professional jargon. aiOla is working to bridge this gap  through advanced AI tool solutions that ensure full recognition and integration of jargon words into existing systems. In doing so, the company enables traditional industries to rely on accurate data for more efficient management of interfaces and manpower, using the most advanced AI technology. This development is another expression of Israeli innovation in the field of artificial intelligence. We presented Prof. Yaron and his team with global technological trends in the banking world from the IBM Research Institute. We demonstrated business scenarios that leverage new technologies and discussed governance, quality, accuracy, economic implications—and the immense potential—of the generative AI revolution. The generative AI revolution is going to create huge business impact, accelerating innovative financial solutions and client experience while increasing productivity and efficiency. We also talked about quantum computing, which can solve complex human problems but also presents challenges in the realms of information and cybersecurity. This revolution is closer than many think and is already useful, accessible, and usable today. Knowledge sharing and open discussions about opportunities and challenges are the foundation upon which innovation is built. I was pleased that the bank's management and we at IBM share a common vision of accelerating innovation in the Israeli economy in general—and the financial sector in particular. Israel is a giant playground if you can perceive it as such. One of my adventures in the corridors of Israeli academia (it’s a comedy. They all are) involved an esoteric investigation into a new class of numbers. There was a notion that there is a negative zero and a positive zero, and that it is somehow useful. I came in to the lab, understood what is required, and wrote the code that produces negative and positive zeros, and queries that perform statistical analysis on the outputs, etc, etc, etc. Negative zeros, positive zeros, perhaps useless in any case aside from slippage calculation in zero-ish trade thresholds.
