My first ever post on LinkedIn and also the first post of #selflovesundays where I talk about self-love and it's importance on Sundays every week . Am I nervous? yes definitely. Having no idea what to do and where to start, taking the first step is always scary but it's always worth it . So today I am gonna talk about how you talk to yourself makes a difference and what impact it leaves on your mind and life . Throughout my life that one things I've always neglected is my point of view on things and especially on how I view myself . I've always cared about what people think and how they view me , but never cared about my own pov and that wrecked my mental health. It was the start of body dysmorphia , never ending self hate and my self confidence hit rock bottom. I got out of the never ending black hole that has sucked almost everyone in by :- 1. No caring about the unnecessary and useless opinions of people who don't matter. 2. By making my opinions about myself my 1st priority 3. By not comparing myself with others. When I mentioned how you talk about yourself matters, i really meant it. When you talk positively and when you shower yourself with loads of self love , you glow. But when you view yourself as a disappointment and nuisance and shower yourself with selfhate nothing around you feels good and you become your biggest hater. I’m too 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬 of her! But then I remind myself: Her journey isn’t mine to compare with. Scrolling through LinkedIn, I saw yet another success story— A creator’s polished posts, achievements, and seemingly effortless journey. It hit me hard. 🎭“𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑖𝑠𝑛’𝑡 𝑚𝑦 𝑗𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑦 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑠 𝑓𝑎𝑠𝑡?" 🎭“𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑚𝑦 𝐾𝑢𝑑𝑜𝑠?” In that moment, I was lost in comparison, forgetting the unique path I’ve carved for myself. Then, I came across Jon Acuff's quote: "𝐷𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑏𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑒𝑙𝑠𝑒’𝑠 𝑚𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑙𝑒, 𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑚𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑙𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑒𝑙𝑠𝑒’𝑠 𝑒𝑛𝑑." It struck a chord. The Great intimacy secret! 😉 This secret is one of the greatest keys to creating copy Writing. People buy from people they like. When you allow your personality to come through, people feel a sense of intimacy with you. They begin to trust you. And like you. Rapport is built. And sales happen. 💡 All of the great copywriters that I can think of wrote in their own voice. They didn’t try to be someone else. Forget trying to imitate any writer you admire. ( Studying other writers is a wise way to learn how they wrote. I just don’t want you to become another writer.) Erase everything you ever learned about “how to write.” From now on, you have to write in any way that feels right to you. ➡ If your style is to use slang, then use slang. ➡ If you are from a different country, let that uniqueness come forth. ➡ If you like to tell funny stories, then tell them. ➡ Your style is your voice, and your voice will create an intimacy with your reader that is profound. Pen your progress not just your applause Every day you log into your account and find yet another success story waiting for you on your feed. You start to feel like there's something terribly wrong with you and if it's time you go for deliverance. One thing I've discovered is that it's much easier to share success stories than the process that led to it. If that were not the case our socials, especially LinkedIn, would not be filled with it. I understand that sharing success stories can serve as motivation to others. However, sharing the process and progress that led to it can do much better. This way, people get to see that you didn't always have it all figured out. There were days you felt like not showing up and throwing in the towel but you kept pushing. It will also save someone from making the mistakes you made. So instead of sharing just your success story, also share your: Process Confusions Frustrations Rejections Sleepless nights Joblessness Times you were broke Etc.
