Gaisce - The President's Award is a self-development programme for young people aged 14-25. It is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, to all young people to dream big and realise their potential. Their mission is to provide a positive youth development programme that encourages and rewards young people to discover their passions and challenge themselves, positively impacting themselves and the world around them. Participants achieve a Gaisce Award by completing Challenge Areas: Personal Skill, Physical Recreation, Community Involvement, and an Adventure Journey. President’s Award Leaders deliver, guide and support Gaisce Participants undertaking the Award. Gaisce participants can now complete their Community Involvement Challenge Area with Cairn Community Games. T There are many ways for participants to take part: ✴ Volunteering - participants can choose to volunteer at area, county or national events. This can involve anything from organising events to posting on social media at events - the possibilities are endless! ✴Coaching- participants can assist in coaching kids in different activities ranging from quiz, chess, basketball, hurling and athletics. Yesterday the team at Cairn Community Games took part in a Young Voices in Sport workshop, exploring the latest toolkit thanks to Michael Collins of Sport Ireland Ethics. The workshop reinforced the importance of listening to children. The Lundy Model provides a clear framework for this, focusing on giving children “Space” to express their views, ensuring their “Voice” is heard, providing an “Audience” to listen, and ensuring their views have “Influence” on decisions. #CairnCommunityGames #ChildrenFirst #PlayYourPart Cairn
