I am excited to share the progress of the Berikanpreneur Project, a collaboration between the Berikan Protein Initiative and the ASEAN Blue Innovation Project UNDP. As part of this project, we developed three prototype products made from Fish Protein Hydrolysate (FPH) derived from low-value fish processed in Indramayu: Mie Kremes, Cereal, and Biscuits. We collaborated with five grassroots sellers for market testing to assess consumer acceptance of these products. These products stand out in the market as they contain higher protein content compared to similar snacks, including: Biscuits (13.5% of daily protein intake), Mie Kremes (15% of daily protein intake), Cereal (16% of daily protein intake). Through this initiative, we aim to increase protein consumption among children through healthy and accessible snacks, while also providing additional income for fishing families. In addition, we provided training on effective, simple marketing strategies that our resellers can apply to promote these products in their communities. We are optimistic that this project will continue to grow and have a positive impact on both nutrition and local economies. Big thanks to our mentor, Adinda Savitri, for guiding us and making this project more visible and measurable 🙏 Looking forward to the continued success and expansion of this initiative. #NutritionProgram #HealthySnacks

Meet one of our changemakers from CCE 3.0, Berikan Protein Initiative! Using efficient, end-to-end #technology, Berikan Protein Initiative converts bycatch into a valuable source of nutrition, aiming to make high-protein food supplements accessible to communities in need. Beyond production, they also engage in #educational initiatives to raise awareness about balanced nutrition and the benefits of protein. • Berikan Protein Leads the Charge with Blue Protein Innovations to Boost National Nutrition at Blue Food Forum 2024 Jakarta, October 10, 2024 – Yogie Arry, Founder of Berikan Protein Initiative, was one of the keynote speakers at the 2024 Blue Food Forum (National Seminar on Aquatic Food Transformation) held by Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta. The seminar, themed "Circular Economy Innovations to Enhance Fisheries Products Added Value in Supporting National Protein Needs," brought together experts and policymakers to explore the future of aquatic food and its role in Indonesia’s development. The Blue Food Forum 2024 aims to promote and consult on the direction of aquatic food policy, both in National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2024-2029, as well as in strategic plans for related sectors and regional development initiatives. Bappenas has emphasized a targeted approach to strengthen the integration of aquatic food into the national food system, affirm aquatic food programs in meeting the nation's dietary needs, and enhance the added value of aquatic food production and productivity. In his presentation, Yogie Arry highlighted Berikan Protein Initiative's innovative work in advancing high-protein solutions through fish protein hydrolysate (FPH) and 'Fish Milk', contributing to Indonesia’s national protein consumption and promoting inclusive regional industrialization. "At Berikan Protein, we create Protein Autonomy (Otonomi Protein) model that focused on delivering sustainable, nutrient-rich products that not only address malnutrition but also create multiplier impact and productive opportunities through rural industrialization. Our commitment aligns with the government's vision to elevate the role of aquatic food in improving national food security and promoting regional economic growth to address global economic challenges," said Yogie. Berikan Protein Initiative serves as a model for the practical implementation of Bappenas’ blue food policy direction. The Protein Autonomy’s circular economy approach turns fish by-products into high-value protein sources, contributing both to the fight against malnutrition and to the economic empowerment of Indonesia’s regional development. The forum concluded with the launch of the Blue Food Assessment (BFA), conducted by the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions. This assessment provided valuable insights into the global potential of aquatic food systems, further validating Indonesia's focus on blue foods as a critical component of its national food security and economic strategies.

  • Berikan Protein Initiative Signs Cooperation Agreement with the Directorate of Fisheries Product Competitiveness, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries - Republic of Indonesia Jakarta, October 4th, 2024 – Berikan Protein Initiative proudly announces the signing of a Cooperation Agreement with the Directorate of Fisheries Product Competitiveness of Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia (Direktorat PDSPKP KKP RI). The official signing ceremony took place at Tuna Auditorium GMB IV, marking a new chapter in the country's fight against protein deficiency and malnutrition. By combining the expertise of Berikan Protein Initiative and the Ministry's GEMARIKAN campaign, the partnership aims to make fish consumption not only more accessible but also more appealing to a wider audience through education, data provision, and the development of fortified local food products utilizing fish protein hydrolysate (FPH). “This partnership represents a breakthrough in how we approach the issue of protein deficiency and malnutrition in Indonesia. Through FPH-based food fortification, Berikan Protein is committed to contributing to the enhancement of national human resources development and achieving Indonesia's Golden Generation 2045.” said Maqbulatin Nuha, CEO of Berikan Protein Initiative. This partnership aims to drive a national movement to increase protein consumption by focusing on protein nutrition education, data provision with Protein Meter Apps by Berikan Protein, and program development of fortified local food products utilizing fish protein hydrolysate (FPH).
