Berikan Protein Initiative Signs Cooperation Agreement with the Directorate of Fisheries Product Competitiveness, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries - Republic of Indonesia
Jakarta, October 4th, 2024 – Berikan Protein Initiative proudly announces the signing of a Cooperation Agreement with the Directorate of Fisheries Product Competitiveness of Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia (Direktorat PDSPKP KKP RI). The official signing ceremony took place at Tuna Auditorium GMB IV, marking a new chapter in the country's fight against protein deficiency and malnutrition.
By combining the expertise of Berikan Protein Initiative and the Ministry's GEMARIKAN campaign, the partnership aims to make fish consumption not only more accessible but also more appealing to a wider audience through education, data provision, and the development of fortified local food products utilizing fish protein hydrolysate (FPH).
“This partnership represents a breakthrough in how we approach the issue of protein deficiency and malnutrition in Indonesia. Through FPH-based food fortification, Berikan Protein is committed to contributing to the enhancement of national human resources development and achieving Indonesia's Golden Generation 2045.” said Maqbulatin Nuha, CEO of Berikan Protein Initiative.
This partnership aims to drive a national movement to increase protein consumption by focusing on protein nutrition education, data provision with Protein Meter Apps by Berikan Protein, and program development of fortified local food products utilizing fish protein hydrolysate (FPH).
Through this agreement, both parties will also collaborate on research, public education, and the dissemination of key data that will support the ongoing efforts to develop new, fortified food products from Indonesia’s rich marine resources. This initiative will help not only in addressing malnutrition but also in fostering the economic empowerment of local coastal communities.
The event was attended by more than 34 other KKP partners, representing various institutions and organizations, demonstrating the synergy between government, private sector, and community organizations in addressing nutritional challenges. Together, we aim to create a healthier and more competitive future for Indonesia, particularly through increased fish protein consumption.
