✍ New incentives for green transition investments are moving forward in Finland. Last week, the European Commission approved a €400 million Finnish government grant scheme to foster the transition towards a net-zero economy under the State aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework (https://lnkd.in/gjAV2WdP). In addition, the Finnish Government issued government proposal on new investment tax credit for large industrial investments on 19 December 2024.   A government decree on the approved government grant is expected to be issued soon, after which Business Finland will introduce the application process. Since the European Commission has not yet approved the investment tax credit, the timing for opening the application process is still uncertain. However, companies may now further investigate the possibilities to apply for the new incentives and start preparing for the application process.    Harri Vehviläinen and Isabella Kartila from Hannes Snellman's Tax Team together with Katja Heikkinen and Elisa Panula from our Energy Team have written a blog post on the most recent developments. 📄 Finnish Draft Government Proposal on the Data Act published! The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched a public consultation inviting stakeholders to comment on its draft proposal regarding the implementation of the EU’s Data Act in Finland. The deadline for comments is 31 January 2025. The Data Act is directly applicable in Finland as it is. The Finnish Implementation Act will supplement the Data Act, especially by designating supervisory authorities in Finland and their powers to impose fines. 🌟 Vis Moot Countdown Continues: Webinars and Workshops 🌟 📌 On 13 December 2024, the last episode of the three-part webinar series organised by the FAI, called “Experiences from the Field: Insights from FAI Arbitrators and Finnish Arbitration Practitioners”, was aired. Our Associates Annika Lampela and Matias Temonen together with our Partner Anna-Maria Tamminen and Senior Associates Ricardo Gomes and Viktor Saavola presented their views on how to draft a persuasive memorandum and shared their own experiences of Vis Moot with the teams. The students participated actively by discussing how they had experienced the memoranda drafting so far and what their expectations for the next part of the competition, i.e. drafting the Memorandum for the Respondent, are. We would like to thank all the teams for their active participation in the workshop and wish you good luck with the drafting of the Memorandum for the Respondent. However, the highlight of the morning was handing over our traditional annual donations, this time to our long-term partner UNICEF and, as voted by our staff, Mieli Ry.
