❗️New Cybersecurity Laws adopted in the EU❗️ On 2 December 2024, the Council of the European Union adopted two new laws: the "Cyber Solidarity Act" and a targeted amendment to the Cybersecurity Act (CSA). These laws aim to enhance the EU's ability to detect, prepare for, and respond to cyber threats and incidents. Cyber Solidarity Act: 🔺 Establishes EU cybersecurity capacities to make Europe more resilient to cyber threats. 🔺 Creates a cybersecurity alert system consisting of national and cross-border cyber centres to share and detect timely alerts of threats. 🔺 The new Cybersecurity Emergency Mechanism establishes an EU cybersecurity reserve composed of private sector actors ready to address cybersecurity incidents at the request of member states or EU institutions and an incident review mechanism to asses the effectiveness of the actions taken. Targeted Amendment to the Cybersecurity Act (CSA): 🔺 Enables the introduction of European certification schemes for managed security services, increasing their quality and comparability. This will help in preventing, detecting, responding to, and recovering from cybersecurity incidents. Once signed by the Council and Parliament presidents, the changes will take effect 20 days after their publication in the Official Journal. 🔗 The Council’s Press release is available here: https://lnkd.in/ekh48xAE
