Honoring a Successful Autumn Migration Season On November 5th, 2024, the Autumn migration season has come to an end. RCREEE proudly recognized the Safe Soar team for their outstanding dedication during this season. Their hard work has been crucial in ensuring the safe migration of birds along the Red Sea coast on the Rift Valley/Red Sea Flyway. Through the successful implementation of the hashtag #ATMP, the Safe Soar team has played a pivotal role in protecting migratory soaring birds (hashtag #MSBs), contributing to their safe passage while minimizing collision risks during this critical migration period. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the team for their tireless efforts and commitment to environmental stewardship. A special thank you also goes to ENDECO for their invaluable contribution throughout the season. Their expertise and hard work in executing the Fatality Monitoring Program (hashtag #FMP) were essential in collecting key data to assess and mitigate risks to migrating birds. Together with the ATMP team, ENDECO provided critical insights that guided our conservation efforts, helping to monitor, prevent, and address any potential bird fatalities along the migration route. We would also like to express our deep gratitude to the wind farm developers in Egypt, whose collaboration in integrating bird-friendly practices into their operations has been instrumental in protecting MSBs. Their commitment to sustainability and wildlife protection ensures that renewable energy development and conservation efforts go hand in hand. The hashtag #ATMP is the program initiated by RCREEE in 2015 to determine the optimum wind turbine operation periods during the heavy bird migratory seasons. It mitigates the environmental and the biodiversity risks while harnessing the benefits of wind energy potential in Suez and Gabal El Zeit area, Egypt. The project is launched in Egypt as the Gulf of Suez falls into one of the heaviest bird migration routes of autumn and spring seasons (Rift Valley / Red Sea flyway)

Advancing Gender Equality in BMP and ATMP at Gulf of Suez Wind Farm Projects We are proud to highlight significant strides toward gender equality in bird monitoring and Shutdown on Demand activities associated with wind farm projects along the Gulf of Suez, Red Sea, Egypt. Females are actively participating in bird monitoring efforts. Representing 15% of onsite observers, ensuring they have equal opportunities for involvement and take leadership in the environmental science and conservation field. Empowering women in this critical field by implementing mentorship programs and community outreach will be invaluable contributions not only to enrich our projects, but also inspire future generations to engage and be crucial part toward achieving the sustainability goals and fostering an inclusive environment that encourages the participation of females in all areas of our milestones. We're delighted with the incredible work of our female team members, who inspire and support aspiring female professionals in breaking barriers and setting new standards in the biodiversity field. Their dedication and expertise are crucial for the success of our #BMP and #ATMP, ensuring a sustainable future for both wildlife and renewable energy. The #ATMP is the program initiated by RCREEE in 2015 to determine the optimum wind turbine operation periods during the heavy bird migratory seasons. The West Bakr Wind Farm (WBWF) is situated along a major bird migration route, necessitating regular updates to our mitigation strategies. From October 14-16, 2024, the Infinity Power WBWF team, alongside lender experts and RCREEE team, conducted a site visit to discuss findings from the Autumn 2024 Active Turbine Management Program (ATMP) and Fatality Monitoring Program (FMP). The team evaluated the effectiveness of current mitigation measures and explored additional strategies to reduce bird collision risks in collaboration with #SafeSoar and #ENDECO. The efforts were well-received by project lenders. Initiated by RCREEE in 2015, the #ATMP aims to optimize wind turbine operations during peak migration seasons, balancing environmental protection with the benefits of wind energy in Egypt's Gulf of Suez region.
