Honoring a Successful Autumn Migration Season On November 5th, 2024, the Autumn migration season has come to an end. RCREEE proudly recognized the Safe Soar team for their outstanding dedication during this season. Their hard work has been crucial in ensuring the safe migration of birds along the Red Sea coast on the Rift Valley/Red Sea Flyway. Through the successful implementation of the hashtag #ATMP, the Safe Soar team has played a pivotal role in protecting migratory soaring birds (hashtag #MSBs), contributing to their safe passage while minimizing collision risks during this critical migration period. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the team for their tireless efforts and commitment to environmental stewardship. A special thank you also goes to ENDECO for their invaluable contribution throughout the season. Their expertise and hard work in executing the Fatality Monitoring Program (hashtag #FMP) were essential in collecting key data to assess and mitigate risks to migrating birds. Together with the ATMP team, ENDECO provided critical insights that guided our conservation efforts, helping to monitor, prevent, and address any potential bird fatalities along the migration route. We would also like to express our deep gratitude to the wind farm developers in Egypt, whose collaboration in integrating bird-friendly practices into their operations has been instrumental in protecting MSBs. Their commitment to sustainability and wildlife protection ensures that renewable energy development and conservation efforts go hand in hand. The hashtag #ATMP is the program initiated by RCREEE in 2015 to determine the optimum wind turbine operation periods during the heavy bird migratory seasons. It mitigates the environmental and the biodiversity risks while harnessing the benefits of wind energy potential in Suez and Gabal El Zeit area, Egypt. The project is launched in Egypt as the Gulf of Suez falls into one of the heaviest bird migration routes of autumn and spring seasons (Rift Valley / Red Sea flyway)
