Infineon Technologies reported the results for the second quarter of the 2024 fiscal year (period ended 31 March 2024): - Q2 FY 2024: Revenue €3.632 billion, Segment Result €707 million, Segment Result Margin 19.5 percent; - Outlook for FY 2024: Based on an assumed exchange rate of US$1.10 to the euro, Infineon now expects to generate revenue of around €15.1 billion plus or minus €400 million (previously €16 billion plus or minus €500 million), with a Segment Result Margin of around 20 percent (previously in the low to mid-twenties percentage range) at the mid-point of the guided revenue range. Adjusted gross margin will be in the low-forties percentage range (previously in the low to mid-forties percentage range). Investments are planned at around €2.8 (previously around 2.9 billion). Adjusted Free Cash Flow of about €1.6 billion (previously €1.8 billion) and reported Free Cash Flow of about €0 million (previously about €200 million) are now expected; - Outlook for Q3 FY 2024: Based on an assumed exchange rate of US$1.10 to the euro, revenue of around €3.8 billion expected. On this basis, the Segment Result Margin is forecast to be in the high-teens percentage range

Q2-2024 European Components Distribution (DMASS) Reports Lower Revenue in Second Quarter 2024. The contraction of the European components market continued in the second quarter of 2024, and the distribution industry was particularly affected. According to DMASS Europe e.V., the European components distribution market recorded a decline of 26.9% in the second quarter of 2024 across all components, with consolidated sales ending at 4.09 billion Euro. While IP&E (Interconnect, Passive and Electromechanical) components seem to normalize faster with a minus of only 12.9% to 1.48 billion Euro, #Semiconductors continue to bear the consequences of the massive growth in the last 3 years. Semi sales declined by 33.1% to 2.62 billion Euro (minor rounding error included). Semiconductor distribution sales in Europe shrank by 33.1% to 2.62 billion Euro, the lowest sales value since Q4/2021, but way above pre-#CoVID times. Quite notable were also regional differences, as shown in the table, with #Germany as the biggest market contracting significantly more than most bigger countries. #UK , #France, #Iberia and #EasternEurope “did better” than average. Hermann Reiter, chairman of DMASS: “When it came to sales, the second quarter hopefully did not surprise anyone. The low bookings of 2023 are now turning into equally low revenues. Due to still high inventory levels, especially in the semiconductor field, and due to macro-economic uncertainties, a return to growth in 2024 for distribution is unlikely or could happen earliest at the end of the year. However, as we can see, parts of the market – IP&E (Interconnect, Passive and #Electromechanical) – have started to normalize already, so our confidence that 2025 will see a return to growth is very high. What makes us a bit nervous is the low visibility within the #supplychain and the lack of longer-term procurement strategies. Infineon Technologies AG has achieved a significant technological breakthrough by developing the world’s first 300 mm power #galliumnitride (GaN) wafer technology. As the first company to master this innovation in a scalable high-volume #manufacturing environment, Infineon is set to drive the rapidly expanding GaN #market. This new technology, which allows 2.3 times as many chips to be produced per #wafer as compared to 200 mm wafers, promises substantial efficiency gains and lower costs in GaN-based power semiconductors. Siltronic AG’s business performance in Q2 2024 was again characterized by weak demand in the wafer market, which resulted from continued increased inventories in the chip industry. Due to the lower wafer area sold, half-year sales of EUR 694.8 million were significantly lower than in the same period of the previous year (H1 2023: EUR 808.2 million). However, at EUR 351.3 million, sales in Q2 2024 slightly exceeded the previous quarter (Q1 2024: EUR 343.5 million) by 2.3 percent.

European Commission approves $5.5 billion in German state aid to support ESMC's fab the construction in Dresden. A primary focus for this fab is to secure the semiconductor supply chain against geopolitical actions as well as avoiding potential shortages of key components as experienced during the COVID-19 lockdown. The company will eliminate 1,400 jobs globally and relocate another 1,400 positions to countries with lower labour costs. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 🏢🌍 Infineon’s CEO Jochen Hanebeck highlighted the slow recovery in target markets and high inventory levels are impacting performance. The ‘Step Up’ programme, launched in May, aims to deliver around £865.6 million ($1.1 billion) in annual savings by 2027. With the structural changes underway, Infineon expects revenue of around £12.9 billion ($16.4 billion) for the 2024 fiscal year. Did you know that we’re expecting an average of more than 40 Bosch semiconductor chips to be integrated in every new vehicle by 2035? What already sounds like quite a lot is only likely to increase in the years to come. 🚀 According to Bosch estimates, 70 percent of all new cars in Europe will likely be purely electric by 2030. Of course, we are well-prepared. We are systematically reinforcing our semiconductor business and expanding our global semiconductor manufacturing network. 🌎 Bosch is specialized in producing semiconductors for the automotive industry in both Dresden and Reutlingen. And we will soon also manufacture these demanded chips in Roseville, California. More precisely, our American colleagues will produce first silicon carbide (SiC) chips on 200-millimeter wafers starting in 2026. Until then, we are ensuring the knowledge exchange between our new fab in California and our wafer fab in Reutlingen, where the first samples on 200-millimeter wafers are currently being produced for customer trials.
