Recent #inflation readings in Germany and the Eurozone push the European Central Bank to lower its inflation projections and consider cutting policy rates. Economists are also lowering long-term inflation expectations. Based on these trends, Kroll is lowering its German normalized risk-free rate from 3.0% to 2.5% when developing EUR-denominated discount rates, effective on March 31, 2024. Exciting Developments in the Net Neutrality Debate Yesterday’s #netneutrality decision by the #FCC will surely prompt another wave of research on this topic, which I believe is the right reaction to ensure that the issue continues to be debated on scientific grounds. A recent empirical research article by Wolfgang Dr. Briglauer et al. suggests decreased fiber investments, for example. 🌍 Yesterday, I attended the BDI Climate Congress, a key event for discussing Germany's industrial transformation. Key findings from the "Transformation Paths" study include: 🇩🇪 Germany is lagging in key industrial indicators. ⚡ 20% of industrial value creation is at risk due to high energy costs. 🌐 Global climate transformation offers €15 trillion in new market opportunities by 2030. 🔄 Germany must reinvent itself as an industrial nation. 📝 A comprehensive industrial policy agenda is needed. 💸 Over €1 trillion in investment required by 2030.   BDI's immediate measures: federal co-financing of grid fees, a new electricity market design, and accelerated planning and approval processes.
