Food systems that support transitions to healthy and sustainable diets
Info
FEAST aims to catalyse Europe’s just transition to a ‘Win-Win-Win-Win' food system that sees major gains for people, the planet, and the public and private sectors. Through HORIZON-CL6-2021-FARM2FORK-01-15 (Horizon Europe Project 101060536), we aim to support European food systems to shift away from the current ‘Lose-Lose-Lose-Win' food systems that sees only large food corporations ‘winning’ at the expense of enormous negative consequences for the environment, health and the public sector. FEAST aims to advance the state of the art by leveraging current best practice and co-designing novel solutions throughout Europe with food system stakeholders, including diverse vulnerable groups, to identify how they can be supported and empowered to facilitate and benefit from the just transition to healthier and more sustainable dietary behaviour – at all levels (micro, meso and macro) and in all sectors (producers, distributors, retailers and consumers) of the food system.

As the year is about to end, it’s time to reflect on our journey in Portugal during the FEAST General Assembly. During this 2-days event, all the FEAST Partners from across Europe came together to exchange ideas, dive deep into the opportunities and challenges of our food systems, and explore ways to create a more sustainable future for all. Our time in Portugal was more than just discussions—it was about learning, collaborating, and celebrating the power of community. From insightful sessions to moments of shared laughter, every experience reinforced the importance of working together to transform the food system. Here’s a summary of our trips to Lima and Minho Valley, featuring key takeaways, highlights, and a whole lot of smiles. Food is the most basic necessity of life, yet in today’s world, its quality is often compromised! At FEAST, we’re dedicated to restoring the joy of healthy, sustainable, and delicious food to the tables across Europe. While Thanksgiving is primarily associated with North America, its spirit is rooted in older European traditions—celebrating the end of conflict, safe journeys, and abundant harvests. Let’s honor those traditions by giving thanks for the blessings of the harvest and the year that’s passed. Here's to coming together over meals that not just nourish us but also keep our planet safe! #feast2030 #HealthyFood #SustainableDiets
Happy FEASTgiving!
