What is True Cost Accounting (TCA) ? 🌍 Understanding the true impact of our food choices is essential for creating a sustainable future. True Cost Accounting (TCA) provides a comprehensive approach to analyze these impacts from environmental, socio-economic, and health perspectives. 📊 TCA holistically assesses externalities across different supply chain scenarios, identifying strategies to reduce hidden costs that conventional methods often overlook. Unlike traditional approaches, TCA considers the full picture, such as the consequences of extensive fertiliser use on human health and the environment. 🍽️ For the first time, TCA will be applied to diets, uncovering significant but unaccounted impacts on natural, social, and human capitals. This shift is crucial for moving towards sustainable, healthy, and cost-effective diets. 🌱 By enabling policymakers to compare and understand various health, social, and sustainability issues, TCA highlights priority areas for intervention and identifies pathways for transformational change in government, business, farming, and consumer contexts. Watch the video to learn more about how TCA can shape the future of our food systems! 🎥 TMG Research gGmbH - TMG Think Tank for Sustainability 👉🏼 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eugqVAGM #TrueCostAccounting #SustainableDiets #FoodSystems #EnvironmentalImpact #SocioEconomicImpact #HealthImpact #PolicyMaking #SustainableFuture #PlanEat

Exploring Diabetes: Type 1 vs. Type 2 🍏💉 Misknowledges between type 1 and type 2 diabetes lead to widespread misunderstandings. 🔎 Let's unpack these myths and shed light on the real distinctions between these two common conditions. 🧬 Diabetes is a prevalent health condition with two primary types: 1️⃣ Type 1, often diagnosed in youth, is primarily genetic, resulting from an autoimmune attack on insulin-producing cells. 2️⃣ Type 2, more observed in adults, is often linked to lifestyle factors such as an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise. What is insulin? 👉 It is an essential hormone that helps your body use glucose for energy and regulate blood sugar levels. 📌Swipe to know more ▶ #DiabetesAwareness #Type1vsType2 #HealthyLiving

Delighted to have had the opportunity to attend and share some findings from our Plan'Eat Project study at The Nutrition Society Congress last week✨ Our study explored stakeholders’ perspectives on promoting sustainable and healthy dietary behaviours within the university setting which will aid in informing our research within the UCD PLAN'EAT Living Lab over the next few years🌱🍎🏫 It was also lovely to catch-up with colleagues, friends, and to make new connections over the course of the week and I look forward to the next meeting. Thank you to the local organisers, Prof. Jayne Woodside and Dr Anne Nugent and the wider Queen's University Belfast team, and the Nutrition Society for such a fantastic programme and also for the invitation to chair at this event👏🏻 Special thanks also to the UCD PLAN’EAT team and co-authors of this work, Mr Patrick Elliott, Mr Michael O'Neill, Dr. Aifric O'Sullivan and Prof. Eileen Gibney🙌🏻 #NSCongress24 UCD Institute of Food and Health UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science

Choosing #sustainablefoods benefits both your health and the environment. Current diets can worsen malnutrition, which in turn causes non communicable diseases (such as cancer, diabetes). At PLAN'EAT, we're here to help you make healthier choices that are good for you and the #planet. Remember, we are what we eat! 🌱 Let’s act now & enjoy a delicious and #sustainable journey together! 🍽️ #PLANEAT #SustainableEating #HealthyLiving
