Gasgene in Saudi - We had a brilliant time in #SaudiArabia last week! We got to meet a whole range of interesting people and organisations. There is so much going on in #Saudi. A big thanks to Charles Phillips, our Business Development Manager and Saudi Arabia Advisor, for showing us around #Riyadh and introducing us to a bunch of interesting people! We visited: -KAPSARC: Saudi Arabia’s leading energy #thinktank -The Garage | الكــراج: the largest startup hub in the Middle East -KAFD | كافد: Riyadh’s financial district -#Diriyah: the birthplace of the Al Saud ruling family Diriyah Company l شركة الدرعية COP16: At COP16Riyadh (the UN Convention to Combat Desertification), we saw: -Lucid Motors - The first company to produce #electricvehicles in Saudi Arabia! 👏 Next year, Saudi Arabia launches its own #EV brand Ceer which will be made in Jeddah with Chinese manufacturing partner Foxconn -King Salman Park Foundation - The largest urban park in the world (under development) SGI: At the Saudi Green Initiative Forum we were delighted to meet some of Saudi Arabia’s top green leaders: -Princess Mashael AlShalan from AEON Collective -Stephen Browne from The Royal Commission for AlUla -Dr. Sultan Alshareef from New Murabba -Abdulrahman Almasri, Noura Alissa, Sarah Almojadidi, Rayed Alharbi from the Ministry of Energy | وزارة الطاقة -Norman McComb from EY Eastern Province: In the Eastern Province, we visited: -#SABICUnited - the world's largest #carboncapture and utilization plant converting waste #CO2 into valuable products, operated by SABIC -LAB7 - Aramco’s brand new deep-tech product development facility -Ithra - a new #museum and cultural centre (also known as King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture) Top Innovators We were honoured to be one of the winners of the World Economic Forum’s 2024 Carbon Caputure and Utilisation Challenge and to be invited to Saudi Arabia for this trip. Visiting Aramco & SABIC - Last week we got to visit #SaudiArabia’s Eastern Province for a tour of aramco and SABIC’s facilities. It was a lot of fun! Site Visit: -#EasternProvince - This part of the country is where Saudi Arabia’s major #oil fields are located and where #Aramco is headquartered. Aramco’s campus is in an area called #Dhahran which is next to the cities of #Dammam and #AlKhobar. The Eastern Province is also home to the major industrial facilities of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) -#SABICUnited - We visited SABIC’s #CCUS Plant in the industrial city of #Jubail (about an hour north from #Dammam and Aramco’s HQ). It’s the world's largest #carboncapture and utilization plant converting waste #CO2 into valuable products. It’s operated by one of SABIC’s subsidiaries, SABIC United (also known as Jubail United Petrochemical Company) -#LAB7 - We also visited Aramco’s brand new deep-tech product development facility, LAB7. It serves as a venture builder, helping #technology innovators turn their disruptive ideas into successful #startups and launch their products to the market. LAB7’s aim is to support Saudi Arabia’s #economicdiversification by developing #deeptech products for 5 main sectors: #manufacturing (e.g. advanced materials, non-metallics), #industrial (e.g. robotics, drones), #social (e.g. medical devices), #sustainability (e.g. clean energy), #digital (AI, machine learning). The facilities here are awesome. -#Ithra - We also did a cultural visit to Ithra, a new #museum and cultural centre (also known as King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture), which has an incredible building! Gasgene in Saudi: Gasgene is a Chinese #startup producing low-carbon #fuels and #chemicals from waste industrial gases such as CO2. Our technology helps industries reduce their #emissions and move towards a more sustainable business model. We’re here to support Aramco and SABIC on that journey. 🧪🧬🏭 We also believe there is huge potential in expanding #China - #Saudi clean energy partnerships. 🇨🇳🤝🇸🇦 Gasgene’s Technology: Gasgene takes industrial off-gases such #carbondioxide, carbon monoxide and #hydrogen and converts these into low-carbon fuels (e.g. #SAF), low-carbon #chemicals (e.g. ethanol and butanol) and novel proteins (e.g. animal #feed). It does this using #geneediting and cutting-edge bio #fermentation technology. This supports #CarbonCapture and Utilisation (#CCU), the #CircularEconomy, #FoodSecurity, and #EnergySecurity. Gasgene is a spin out company from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is a result of 15 years of lab-based research. CCU Challenge Winners! - We’re in #Riyadh, #SaudiArabia. Yesterday we received an award from Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, at the Saudi Green Initiative Forum. 🌳🚀🇸🇦 We’ve been invited to #Saudi as a winner of the World Economic Forum’s Carbon Capture and Utilisation Challenge! 300 startups applied and 5 winners are here in Riyadh. The competition is run by UpLink - World Economic Forum, the Saudi Ministry of Energy | وزارة الطاقة, and the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning - MEPsaudi. Gasgene’s Technology: Gasgene is a Chinese #startup producing low-carbon #fuels and #chemicals to support the #energytransition and help industries achieve #netzero emissions. On October 28, 2024, Gasgene was awarded the Sustainable Development Pioneer Award. Gasgene is participating in the 2024 China International Green and Low carbon lndustry Expo in Shenzhen, China.

Today marks the official launch of the 10 metric tons pilot plant of Gasgene.
