Meet the next generation of Agile Leaders at Swisscom!   Last Friday I had both the honour and the pleasure to facilitate Day 5 of CAS Agile Leadership at the iimt - international institute of management in technology in Fribourg. Groups of 2 or 3 professionals from Swisscom were given 45 minutes to present a methodology, be it Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, DevOps, Lean and discuss how it could apply to their organisation and their day-to-day business. What a day it has been!   My friend and former manager Jean Binder asked me earlier this year if I would be interested to shadow him leading the first 2 days of the training to potentially take over in the coming years. I was not supposed to lead the discussions on Day 5, but when Jean announced he couldn’t make it that day, one of the students simply suggested I’d replace him… Thank you Aline Fournier for giving your blessing!   I was lucky that Jean already prepared the agenda of the day and slides I could use, and I spent quite some time preparing this course and brushing up my knowledge on all these methodologies. They all use their own processes, ceremonies, concepts, and naturally, the thought-provoking question that came to my mind – and which I asked at the end of the day – was how it would be possible to remain agile and not overburden the team with these various artefacts. After all, People over Processes is part of the Agile Manifesto.   There is no absolute answer, but what truly matters is to keep an Agile Mindset and apply whatever you think best in a specific situation. To be flexible means to keep an open mind and to adapt to whatever happens without losing the focus on the client and the delivery (including budget, quality, risks, etc.). I believe all of us in the room learned something useful that day.   It was my second session at the IIMT this year after the 3rd edition of the Communication module part of the CAS Soft Skills im Projekt Management, which I run with Sarianna Benain, and you know what? I look very much forward to coming back to the IIMT for the next course. As a lecturer, I feel I learn as much if not more than the students. Knowledge sharing is such a great thing. And the IIMT such a great place to do so! Integrating digital and #patientcentered solutions with each other, getting diverse partners on board — from public institutions to startups and a Primary Health Care Unit 🏥, testing and feedbacking, among other things. Projects like preDIA - Diabetes Virtual Care of the Future Health Lab and partners are doing exactly that, while centering their work on high-risk populations. Do we need a Women's health initiative in Switzerland? After an inspiring evening with eye-opening insights not only on the striking gender-specific disparities that still exist (e.g. looking at the impact of cardiovascular risk factors for women vs. men), but also the gaps in awareness, research and evidence, and urgent needs for action at a policy level, the answer is a clear and resounding YES.
