The Ontario government is taking next steps to build the Bradford Bypass by awarding the west section construction management contract to ORBA's proud, longtime member The Miller Group, a Colas Canada Inc. company. ORBA CEO Walid Abou-Hamde delivered remarks on behalf of the industry, recognizing Miller's history and legacy in Ontario, and thanked Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria, Doug Ford and the Ontario government for their unwavering commitment to building the province. Miller's President Ryan Essex, MBA, P.Eng., and Executive Vice President and ORBA Board member Rick Tamburro were also in attendance along with several company employees. *** RPRA INCREASING RATES - AGAIN! *** After increasing rates by over 300% in 2024, Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority has released proposed fee structure for 2025 including increase of 30% for Source Sites and Reuse Sites by 5%. RPRA is rational is due to a 'decrease in the volume of excess soil predicted to be reported into the registry in 2025'. XS Soil Solutions understands there isn't a reduction in excess soil volume in 2025, rather a hesitancy from industry to register on RPRA (especially private projects) due to these egregious fees.
