Meet Brian Bilton, our new Warehouse Manager at Greener Village! Brian comes to us from Ontario, bringing over two decades of experience in the retail industry. Starting on the night shift in 1999, his perseverance and leadership propelled him to a 12-year role as a grocery manager. Now, he’s channeling his dedication and passion for community support into managing our food bank inventory and ensuring grocery hampers are prepared and distributed efficiently. When he’s not making an impact at Greener Village, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and son, travelling the world, and indulging his love for sports. We’re thrilled to have him on board and know he’ll make a tremendous difference! #StaffSpotlight #WelcomeToTheTeam #CommunitySupport #MakingADifference

About us
A charitable organization that advances food security in the Fredericton Area through inclusive programs and services. Greener Village Pillars: - Food Bank and Clothing Boutique - Learning Kitchen - Community Gardens - Life Skills Development Over 30 years, Greener Village has become a gathering place for those who share the idea that food can bridge whatever might divide us. Just as food brings us around a table, so too can it bring our community together behind our belief that the challenges of life will not ever exceed our capacity to care for one another. The problem is real and growing. In 2012, the Canadian Community Health Survey indicated that 15.6% of households in New Brunswick were food insecure, 2.6% higher than the national average. These figures reveal that there are 47,000 food insecure households in New Brunswick. Within severely insecure households: - a majority reported feeling hungry, losing weight, and cutting or skipping meals; - more than 1/3 reported adults in the household who hadn’t eaten for an entire day; - over 2/3 could not afford to provide balanced meals to the children in their household; - 1 in 6 children in these households were hungry. Founded in 1984 as a conventional not-for-profit food bank, Greener Village has since shed its original model and developed programming that addresses hunger and food security through capacity building and fellowship. We serve over 1000 families a month, or approximately 3000 people, 37% of which are children. Consistent access to safe and nutritious food is fundamental; help us make sure that no one in our community goes hungry: www.greenervillage.org

On Sunday, superstar volunteer Sharon (Caissie) Cattan hosted her 35th Annual Toy Brunch, and delivered a mountain of toys to Toyland this morning! Sharon's Annual Christmas Toy Brunch is an amazing event which showcases the generosity of the community. We couldn't be more grateful to Sharon and Ian for organizing (and hosting, cooking and delivering right to Toyland!) and to their friends who participated. These toys will be delivered locally through our Angel Tree program, making the holiday brighter for our client families. #AngelTree #Toyland #Volunteer #HolidayHero

While swapping tips and stories, Jon shares how his family has adjusted to life in the public eye and why community matters so much to him. And speaking of community, Chef Yves highlights our Casserole Club! Each month, this program brings people together to make hearty meals like chicken pot pie, which are shared with families in need. Dr. Jennifer Russell, Executive Director of the University of New Brunswick Institute of Population Health, joined us in the Learning Kitchen for a conversation about healthy eating and its role in improving community well-being. With her insights into diets like the Mediterranean and Blue Zones, Dr. Russell highlighted practical ways to make nutritious choices more accessible for everyone. In the session, we also prepared a fresh and healthy deconstructed fajita bowl to demonstrate how simple ingredients can fuel a better tomorrow.
