  • Can you believe there are less than 5 weeks left until 2025? And for many, the new year means one thing: a new job. Whether you’re aiming for higher goals or want to find a role that better aligns with your aspirations, now’s the time to get started—especially since January kicks off a fresh hiring cycle for many employers, with new hiring budgets and a focus on workforce planning for the year ahead. Just look at what happened in January 2024: Canada added 37,000 jobs, far exceeding analyst expectations and contributing to the first drop in our unemployment rate for more than a year.  To get the ball rolling, try asking yourself some questions like these: ▪️ Am I still learning and being challenged in ways that matter to me?  ▪️ Does my current role align with my long-term career aspirations?  ▪️ Am I engaged in impactful projects that use my strengths and skills effectively?  ▪️ Is the work culture a good fit for my values and lifestyle?  ▪️ Do I feel recognized and appreciated for the contributions I make?  ▪️ Does my work contribute to something I find meaningful or fulfilling?  ▪️ Am I excited about the future career path that my current company offers?   • It can draft resumés and apply for jobs. It can draft job ads and screen applications. But does AI hire the candidate? No. That’s the human’s job. “I think human connection and conversation are still so critical in the hiring process,” says our co-founder and owner, Kathryn Tremblay (She/Her), in this The Globe and Mail article by David Israelson: https://lnkd.in/eVrCBBUY “The resumé might get the candidate the interview, but the hiring manager vets the experience and skills,” she says. As Kathryn notes, AI can be a time-saver in the recruitment process. For example, it can draft the outline of a job ad. However, she says the human recruiter must refine the ad to “make sure it’s inclusive and free of any bias and add language about the company’s culture and values, along with any interesting job responsibilities, perks or benefits.” Kathryn also notes that AI can help employers screen the increasing numbers of applications they receive—up to 15% more, thanks to automation. But again, it’s important that the human hiring manager be front and centre in vetting all those applications to determine the best, most qualified human for the job. She’s more than a teammate; she makes Altis feel like a community! From her start on our Temp Admin team, covering both permanent and contract roles, to her current place on our specialized Healthcare team, Naneh has been a constant source of support, especially for our healthcare clients. Many of those early clients are still with her to this day—a reflection of the lasting connections she creates. 🏥✨  But there’s so much more to Naneh than her incredible work ethic. She’s that go-to person everyone turns to. If you’re new to the team, she’s the one making you feel at home, probably the first to drop a “Welcome to Altis!” email in your inbox. 💌 And whether you're looking for some guidance or a friendly check-in, she’s the first to lend a helping hand and jump in wherever needed.
