Progress is already visible, with rising recyclability rates among some members in recent years. ✨🥖 Celebrating collaboration across the European bakery sector! Yesterday, representatives from the Fedima Board and Secretariat joined the traditional Bread Initiative end-of-year event hosted by our partner AIBI - aisbl International Association of Plant Bakers in the beautiful Grand Place, right in the heart of Brussels. During the opening symposium, Olivier Schenk, newly elected Member of the European Parliament, emphasised the importance of fostering dialogue and collaboration with all stakeholders, while DG Agri Deputy Director General Pierre Bascou provided early insights into the upcoming EU Agri-Food Strategy, which aims at supporting the entire supply chain and will focus on enhancing competitiveness while ensuring social and environmental sustainability. As Thomas Lesaffre reminded us, our voice is strongest when we raise it together. That's why these gatherings are so important in uniting the European baking community, key partners, and policymakers to strengthen connections and discuss shared priorities. To another year of successful collaboration! 🤝🌟 #BakeryIndustry #Collaboration #BreadInitiative #EuropeanBaking Discover more about the Bread Initiative and our common asks to EU policymakers in the vision paper "Keeping Bread on the Table"👉 https://lnkd.in/d8d-5Wcj

🍞🏷 FEDIMA - European bakery and pastry ingredients manufacturers welcomes the European Court of Auditors special report on #foodlabelling in the EU. We support the goal of providing #EUconsumers with accurate and reliable food information and are committed to improving practices across the #bakery and #pastry value chains. In particular, we appreciate the report’s attention to inconsistency and lack of harmonisation in labelling practices in the EU, such as nutrient profiles and precautionary allergen labelling (PAL). While the ECA report primarily focuses on consumer-facing challenges, we emphasise the need for a framework that accounts for the unique reality of #B2B businesses, which are often impacted by regulations designed for consumer-facing sectors. 🔗 Read our position paper on nutrient profiles: https://lnkd.in/dw8fhT4w #foodlabelling #foodindustry #bakeryindustry #pastryindustry
🍽️ 🏷️ #EUconsumers can easily get lost in a maze of #foodlabels, according to a report published today by the European Court of Auditors. People are exposed to a growing number of claims, logos, slogans, labels and scores which can be not only confusing but also misleading. Key findings: 📌 Weak EU legislation can lead to consumers being fooled 📌 Confusion is made worse by the increasing number of voluntary labels, logos and claims that are used to attract consumers 📌 Fines are not always dissuasive, effective or proportionate. 🔗 Read the full report 👇 https://lnkd.in/ec9Ya6V3
