Throw 🔙 to last week's 62nd Glossary and Thesaurus Working Group (GTWG) meeting. Federal Office for Migration and Refugees' Gaby Wecker and #EMNLuxembourg's Ralph Petry (co-chairs of the GTWG) joined forces with 40 representatives from European Migration Network Member and Observer Countries, along with representatives from the European Commission, European Union Agency for Asylum – EUAA, Frontex, Council of the European Union, Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union, and the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to identify key terms and concepts from the Pact on Migration and Asylum to update the EMN Glossary and to align it with the new Regulations 💡 Here are our foremost takeaways: 👉 the need for user-friendly, clear, and standardised definitions, that are in line with the language used in the Regulations, to support the implementation of the Pact across the EU Member States. 👉 the importance of early work on the Pact’s terminology, with an understanding that both existing and new terms should remain accessible throughout the implementation phase (until 2026) to ensure clarity and consistency. 👉 committing to foster participatory collaboration with various organisations and agencies within the EU to benefit from on each other’s work and expertise with a view to avoid duplication and harmonise terminology. You can consult the latest version of the Glossary here: https://lnkd.in/e6Hy_pxN 🤓 Thank you to our colleagues at European Migration Network (EMN) Belgium for hosting us in Brussels 🫶 #EMNMigration #EMNGlossary

The meeting also included contributions from the European Commission, EU agencies (European Union Agency for Asylum – EUAA, Frontex), the Council of the European Union, and the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency who were invited to present their own work on the harmonisation of migration-related vocabulary. 🤝 Discussions were held on the best ways to coordinate this work among all actors involved and strengthen cooperation, especially in view of the inclusion of new terms related to the Pact on Migration and Asylum. 👉 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e2uUwqSx
