This week, EERA’s top story follows the growing 📈momentum surrounding the proposal to launch a new European Competitiveness Deal (ECD). First outlined by European leaders back in April, the ECD is aimed at 🔗bridging the growth, productivity, and innovation gaps between the EU and its 🌍 international partners and competitors. 💡 Now, with the Hungarian Presidency of the European Council characterising its launch as a priority action, the political drive behind this initiative is set to reach new heights next week with the so-called ‘Budapest Declaration on the New European Competitiveness Deal’ at the EU leaders’ informal meeting on 8 November. 📝Notably, the draft of this declaration already highlights key actions for addressing shared economic challenges across the Union, including: ➡️a target for research and innovation set at 4% of EU GDP by 2030 ➡️the need for increased investments and improved integration of capital, telecoms, and energy markets ➡️the introduction a “fifth freedom” to enhance the mobility of researchers, knowledge, and innovation Read EERA’s full analysis here: https://lnkd.in/eVnpyqVN
