🤐 A bit speechless after Salesforce's World Tour Essentials conference in Melbourne last week. Literally (lost my voice) AND metaphorically... Despite the vast advancements in DevOps tools and methodologies, I was shocked to encounter a significant number of (very smart) professionals that are still relying on Change Sets for their Salesforce development processes. It’s time to rethink this approach... 🚀 Inefficiency and Scalability Issues: Change sets, while foundational, often fall short when it comes to efficiency and scalability. They require manual selection and tracking of components, which is not only time-consuming but also prone to human error. As projects grow, the limitations become glaringly apparent, making it difficult to manage larger, more complex deployments effectively. 🛠️ Modern Alternatives: There are tools out there that offer a more sophisticated, automated approach. *cough* *cough*. Salesforce won’t invest more in CPQ. The market sentiment says so. Since the launch of RLM (Revenue Lifecycle Management), the market sentiment for CPQ has gone down. People are speculating: → no new advancement → differences b/w RLM and CPQ → CPQ as an outdated tool and more. Here’s the most absurd yet believable speculation: In light of RLM, Salesforce will discontinue CPQ in 2-3 years. But all of this may be just that - speculation. There is nothing to worry, yet. Because RLM isn’t ready to use. It is still in beta. I’ve been getting a lot of queries around - how to migrate from CPQ to RLM. My answer - There is no straight forward way. We’ve been busy over the last few months talking to all sorts of people within the Ecosystem to get a feel for what’s actually going on. ☎ We’ve spoken to Partners, Endusers, Candidates, AE’s and even Salesforce Leadership. Times have definitely changed. ⏰ Salesforce are capturing the zeitgeist with announcements being more political than practical. 🧠 📉 Customers have more choice than ever before, with competing products affecting sales numbers over at the mothership. There are still the large “land and expand projects” for established Partners, but the net new business is stalling. I recall Salesforce massively promoting the 150,000 customers number and yet the 200,000 announcement has yet to materialize. Maybe they’re waiting for the quarter mill ❓ In turn, and despite what you may read elsewhere, jobs are harder to come by than ever before. 💲 With more and more entrants trying to get into the Ecosystem (the promise of highly paid careers at entry level still persists!), the competition is fierce. This is compounded by the redundancies from the larger partners during the early part of this year that filtered talent back down the ladder. The problem as we see it, is that the market is still behaving as it was in the boom of 2021. As we said before, things have changed. We need to react and adapt. There is opportunity out there and with a little bit of ingenuity and flexibility Salesforce is still a fabulous Ecosystem in which to work and build a career. 💼 We still have clients looking for great people and great people looking for awesome roles. 🔎 We’ve taken on board the findings from the conversations we’ve been having and come up with our part of the solution. We have a NEW flexible way to recruit. Recently I was asked for some advice.....If I was new into a Rev Ops Leadership role how would I gain quickest understanding of what is working and what isn't in the revenue org? My first answer was to understand Productivity (revenue per rep over a unit of time) across the organisation...and here is why: - I can see which teams, regions, products etc are performing the best and which are the worst - I can make sure ramp times are correct and realistic - I can check that quotas are correct Basically it gives a health check on the sales org.
