A short open letter to Telstra in the hope Brad Whitcomb is interested. I'm sorry I had to leave you, your mobile coverage is second to none, but forcing me to book an appointment to buy an iPad Pro in-store just smelt too much like cost-cutting and staff minimisation. I was willing to pay a premium for service, but not when you continually eroded the service. If only that's where the saga ended. All my contracts were terminated and money taken from the amount I had in credit on my account, except for a hardware repayment option. I was confident the credit in my account was enough to cover this, but I had no way to find out the remaining balance. All seemed well, except the monthly email slowly wore away at me. Finally I decided to do something about it. I contacted you and was told my credit would cover the contract termination and it would be reflected on my next bill. Great! Except it didn't happen. A call to the complaints line was in order. The first call disconnected shortly after a human answered (I heard a voice in the background, then it went dead). The second call and I was promised that all would be resolved. I then asked about the process for the return of the remaining credit and was told the refund process would be triggered as part of my enquiry. The refund process was rejected due to expired credit card details on file. I added new CC details via My Telstra as requested, but was then told this wasn't good enough and bank account details would be required and someone would call me. I don't like phone calls when an email will suffice, so I added bank account details through My Telstra and emailed back to say I'd done this. Today I got an SMS to say you'll call in 3 to 5 minutes. 15 seconds later you called to advise me the complaint was resolved 9 or 10 days ago. I said this didn't align with this mornings email. After being told "I apologise for your inconvenience" far too many times I made it clear I was not willing to continue the conversation via voice. Then the SMSs began. The first SMS advised me of the status of the refund as it was several days ago. I pointed out that the information was outdated and to please ensure they had read my most recent email. The previous SMS was then resent, albeit worded very differently. I advised of the full experience of the refund process. The person sending the SMSs didn't seem to understand the difference between credit card and bank account details and kept asking me to provide details directly to them. My latest response was to advise that I'm giving up on organising the refund. The process has become so painful that it is no longer worth pursuing the monies owed to me. I was a loyal customer for over a decade, prior to that I was a Telstra customer when I could afford it and used other phone companies only because I couldn't afford the premium charges. I'm sorry you lost me, I miss the coverage but you stopped showing respect.

Is your business prepared for the 3G shutdown?🗼 Telstra has announced it will be delaying their shutdown of its 3G network until 31 August 2024, Optus will shut down their network on the same date and some providers already have. For businesses, this means that certain mobile phones, eftpos machines, tablets, security systems and potentially medical alarms that are still using the 3G network will be made obsolete in the near future.  🥳 Another AI milestone for Telstra this week – we have officially rolled-out #AskTelstra to all of our frontline employees!   🤖 We built AskTelstra last year with the ambition to harness the power of #genAI to empower our teams to help our customers more quickly and effectively. Our tool helps people to search Telstra's extensive internal knowledge bases quickly and easily to support customer enquiries.   Over the past year, we've conducted various pilots and gathered a wealth of feedback to enhance AskTelstra's capabilities. 👋 Farewell 3G, hello enhanced connectivity 🌐   Did you know that in the past five years, demand on Telstra’s network has increased 3.5 times? 🚀   As we continue to improve and future-proof our network, it’s time to say goodbye to 3G 👋 We’re committed to providing a faster and more reliable service that can keep pace with Aussie’s insatiable demand for connectivity – which is growing 20% per year 📈   We can do this by switching off older mobile network technology and repurposing the spectrum that is used to carry data and voice calls to expand our 4G and 5G networks. 5G provides 5x the spectrum capabilities of 3G, and has around 20x more capacity 🌟    The 3G network was launched in 2006, and served us well for calls, texting, and basic online access 📶 More recently, 3G has accounted for less than 1% of mobile traffic on our network.   We’ve done a lot of work over the past 5 years, completing coverage upgrades, ensuring coverage equivalency and communicating to customers.
