Evolving, Not Exiting: My Continuing Journey with the University of Melbourne
After six remarkable years as the Executive Director of the Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre (MEC), I wanted to share that I will be transitioning to a new role by the end of April 2025 - so this isn't a goodbye; perhaps it's more of a pivot?
A few months ago, I made the decision that I wanted to find some more time to dedicate to various professional and personal projects, (maybe like launching a podcast - I'm looking at you Constantine Frantzeskos and Paul Naphtali).
Colleagues such as Ken Jefferd, Mark Cassidy, and Professor Duncan Maskell have been incredibly supportive. We all quickly realized that it's not time for a complete departure just yet – a mutual understanding that we're not finished.
Overt the last six years, we have laid a strong foundation for MEC, setting it up for sustained success. As we approach April, I will share some of our key accomplishments and express my gratitude to those who have made it all possible.
In early 2025, the university will unveil exciting and ambitious plans for the future of MEC. Stay tuned for the unfolding of the next chapter at the Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre!
The new MEC strategy will also reveal a role that is more exciting, ambitious, and challenging than ever before – and in the first quarter of 2025 the University of Melbourne will start a search for someone to fill what I confidently call one of the best jobs in entrepreneurship.
So, stay tuned.
And as for me, I will continue my 50+ year relationship with this wonderful institution and most importantly, with the many colleagues and friends in Australia and around the world that I have made along the way.
It has truly been the time of my life!
