The University of Vaasa’s team won the EUNICE Imagine Innovation Cup 2024! 🏆✨   Our Doctoral Researchers, Eldrige de Melo, Mikko Punnala, and Mahmoud Elsanhoury, wowed the judges with their innovative project, enhancing navigation accuracy.   – Our aim is to develop a system that provides seamless navigation anytime and anywhere. We want to increase the resilience of the GNSS signals as they are critical to our daily lives, from ordering taxis and food delivery to using mobile maps and finance systems. GNSS signal jamming and spoofing has been increasing in the last few years. Our innovation is based on a research conducted at the University of Vaasa by Mahmoud Elsanhoury, says Eldrige de Melo.   – It was a great honour to be able to represent the university in this competition with our team. Winning the competition served as additional motivation that we have a good business idea that should be developed further and brought into the market.   The EUNICE Imagine Innovation Cup is a business competition where students from EUNICE European University partners present their entrepreneurial ideas. The projects were judged on the basis of their sustainability, feasibility, and novelty of the idea. Having spent yesterday at the Techarenan I am amazed how much the Swedish innovation ecosystem has evolved during the past 20 years 😀 When I started to build our innovation support more than 20 years ago I dreamed about what we today see happening, so many players with the aim to enable the growth, so many international contacts and so many experienced entrepreneurs and investors creating value over and over again. Universities play a crucial role in the innovation ecosystem and we, too, need to lean in and innovate on ourselves. From AI-based models with fatal gender bias to failing to show clinical evidence after years of development and testing. 💡 Her lessons. Digital health products shouldn't only appeal to consumers, but to a complicated landscape of stakeholders and investors. I'll start reposting the #tbt series about Nova SBE Innovation Ecosystem's "Future Cities, Future Communities" project, a dearest achievement over these 2 years at Nova School of Business and Economics. Through these posts, we'll check some of the outcomes from this #multi-#stakeholder program. Let's start with the #Community #Track. Focused on #citizen engagement, this track involved #workshops and creative exercises to envision better #urban #living #environments. People's perspectives were materialized through the #AI-based #video descriptions shared below. On the program's wrap-up event, last July, the panel "There's no legitimate innovation without participation and social well-being" presented these visions while highlighting the importance of inclusive and #participatory approaches to #innovation. Our roundtable guests came from the fields of #architecture and #urbanism, alongside two SBE’s community managers. It was all about providing our program partners with a bottom-up pack of #needs, #hopes & #fears. All built with our great team, namely Humberto Piccinini and Maria Guimarães. You rock!
