Protection of animals is a standard protection under Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVO), and threatening or harming animals is also a form of intimidation under the law. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing domestic and family violence, there’s help available. Call 1800RESPECT Australia (1800 737 732) for 24/7 support. This #FeelGoodFriday, we’re sharing an inspiring story of quick thinking and courageous action 💙 In August, St George PAC officers rushed to a desperate scene at a local unit complex, where an 18-month-old boy was choking on an apple, his airway blocked and his life at risk. In a split second, one officer’s quick thinking saved the child’s life, dislodging the apple and allowing him to breathe again. Recently, the police and NSW Ambulance paramedics had the privilege of meeting the grateful parents and their healthy son at Kogarah Police Station. The little one is now fully recovered, and his parents were able to thank the heroes who gave their son a second chance at life. 👮♂️🚑🙌 Inspired to make a real impact? Over the past two days, Commissioner Karen Webb APM joined Police Commissioners from across Australia and New Zealand at the ANZPAA Police Conference 2024, with the theme Policing Reimagined. The conference explored how police agencies can adapt to an unpredictable future, balancing the need for community safety with evolving political, economic, and technological demands. Through collaboration, idea-sharing, and innovation, discussions focused on reimagining strategies in three key areas: Our Role, Our People, and Our Community. Exciting times ahead for policing! 🚓✨

Yesterday, we honoured the lives lost to anti-transgender violence on Transgender Day of Remembrance. The NSW Police Force proudly raised the flag outside the Sydney Police Centre, symbolising solidarity and support for the transgender community. Dr. Jess Hooley expressed: "I am so glad we are working together with the police here; to build positive relationships, creating knowledge, building capabilities for a better and safer social world for everyone, and we can all contribute to that - no matter our genders or our sexualities." Let's continue to foster understanding and compassion for all. 🩵🩷🤍
