Highlights from one of our most memorable projects of 2024. Following the impact of devastating floods in the Northern Rivers region, Modscape was appointed by School Infrastructure NSW to collaborate with TSA, ADCO Constructions, and Pedavoli Architects to rapidly rebuild state-of-the-art learning environments. Modular construction provided an efficient solution, enabling faster delivery and minimal disruption while creating high-quality, climate-resilient educational spaces. #ModularConstruction #EducationDesign #Sustainability #InnovativeDesign #ClimateResilience

The Minister for Skills and Training, Hon Andrew Giles MP, the Minister for Skills and TAFE, Hon Gayle Tierney MP, and HIA Chief Executive Simon Croft, joined us today at our Melbourne facility to announce a significant $50 million investment by the Albanese and Allan Labor Governments to establish the Melbourne Polytechnic Future of Housing Construction Centre of Excellence. This Centre—Australia’s first dedicated advanced construction training facility—will shape the future of housing by fostering a skilled workforce, driving innovation, and addressing critical housing challenges through Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). prefabAUS, Australia’s peak MMC body, will provide expertise in prefabrication and modular construction techniques, further strengthening the Centre’s collaborative approach. Minister Giles also spoke with our team about pathways into this evolving field and the vital role of industry collaboration in delivering smarter, faster, and more sustainable housing solutions. At Modscape, we’re incredibly proud to host such a significant announcement and to champion innovation in modular construction—helping shape a more sustainable future for Australia’s housing sector. #FutureofConstruction #MMC #ModularConstruction #HousingInnovation #AustralianHousing

Meet Jai, Contracts Administrator at Modscape. With experience spanning continents, Jai’s background has equipped him well for his role at Modscape. After moving from Scotland to Australia, he’s embraced modular construction, bringing fresh insights to the team. What were you doing before you came to Modscape? – I moved to Australia two years ago from Scotland, where I worked as a Quantity Surveyor on public and private sector projects. When I arrived here, I naturally found myself working as a Contract Administrator to deliver a Secondary & Specialist School in Melbourne. How did you get into construction? – During my final year of high school, there were plans for a full demolition and rebuild of my school campus. I had been applying for university at the time, but this was a chance to gain hands-on experience while earning a degree. By the time I graduated, I had a solid six years of work experience, along with a degree in Quantity Surveying. What drew you to prefabrication? – I was intrigued by how closely people work together. As an industry, we’re so often divided – different stakeholders, project teams, engineers, designers, and contractors. It’s rare to be able to implement lessons learnt or build relationships beyond the project. What’s something you’ve learned about the industry that’s surprised you? – The pace of modular construction is quite remarkable – 12 weeks compared to a typical two-year program for traditional construction. The ability to learn and improve within such a short timeframe has been eye-opening. How have you found Queensland as a place to work and live? – Queenslanders love to start early and finish early – everyone wants to go out and enjoy the sun. It’s a great lifestyle. How do you unwind after a long day? – Lately, I’ve been prioritising fitness—getting back into running, swimming, and spending time at the gym. Living in a new city has also been a great excuse to explore local bars, restaurant and hidden beaches. #modscapeteam #modularconstruction #prefab #MMC

Yesterday, our Modscape NSW team attended the Property Council’s Social and Affordable Housing lunch, where over 400 industry leaders came together to discuss the future of housing across Australia. Homes NSW CEO Rebecca Pinkstone spoke about the critical challenges and opportunities in addressing the social housing shortage, highlighting the need to deliver homes faster to meet growing demand. Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) was a key focus, with an emphasis on developing a local manufacturing pipeline to accelerate delivery. It was great to connect with nettletontribe, MBMPL Pty Ltd, Bridge Housing Limited and Arissa Group, who are all leading impactful initiatives in the housing sector. At Modscape, we’re excited to be part of these vital conversations and to contribute to delivering sustainable, high-quality, and fast-tracked housing solutions. Thanks to the Property Council of Australia for hosting such an inspiring and well-attended event. #SocialHousing #AffordableHousing #ModularConstruction #SustainableDesign #HousingSolutions #MMC #Partnerships #CommunityImpact
