[ NEWS ] HOWARD SMITH WHARVES TO REDEFINE BRISBANE WITH NEW HOTEL, POOL DECK, AND DINING PRECINCT 🌴🏙️
Artemus Group has unveiled ambitious plans to transform Brisbane’s iconic Howard Smith Wharves into a world-class destination ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Central to the proposal is a 77-room, nine-storey boutique hotel, complete with retail space and a theatre/music hall. A new pool deck overhanging the Brisbane River, expanded public spaces, and two additional cliff lifts will enhance access and elevate the precinct’s offering.
Founder Adam Flaskas emphasised the group’s vision to “deliver something truly world-class for Brisbane,” highlighting the project’s sustainability and design innovations. The development will feature rooftop gardens, subtropical landscape elements, and sustainable initiatives aimed at reducing packaging waste and minimising environmental impact. According to Flaskas, “We have always had the goal of creating the world’s most sustainable precinct right here on the river’s edge.”
Set to align with Brisbane’s “Buildings That Breathe” guidelines, the revitalised precinct will offer locals and visitors enhanced dining, entertainment, and riverfront experiences, all while showcasing the city’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.
As CEO Luke Fraser put it, “This next stage is about continuing to provide exceptional spaces and experiences for locals and visitors to enjoy our beautiful city.”
