We were honoured to participate in yesterdays State of the Sector for PBSA event, the first ever hosted by Property Council of Australia. Our Managing Director, Rodney Moyle, based at nettletontribe's Brisbane studio, had the privilege to contribute as a speaker on the 'Tech Influencing Design and Operations' panel, alongside sector experts Wee Ping Goh, Madeline Smith, Travis Knipe and moderator Finola Reid. We shared insightful perspectives on how integrating technology in PBSA design and operations can cater to the unique needs of Gen Z, and how to seamlessly incorporate these digital natives into innovative living spaces that meet their expectations for connectivity, sustainability, and community. Thank you to Property Council of Australia for including nettletontribe in this significant discussion!

  • We were thrilled to be apart of the design process for this project. Reflecting on the project's aspirations and design ethos, nettletontribe Director Jeremy Bishop, encapsulates our vision, "to have a beautifully crafted and detailed building. I think we're taking what are durable and robust finishes into a realm of something sophisticated and soft."   We look forward to seeing this project be brought to life!

  • The Fitzpatrick Industrial Estate Warehouse 1, developed by Fitzpatrick Investments in Erskine Park, is the initial warehouse in a series of developments. Located near key motorways (M4 and M7) and adjacent to the future Western Sydney Aerotropolis, the site leverages its strategic position in a burgeoning industrial area. The design, executed by nettletontribe, aims to create an efficient, modern warehouse with specific emphasis on fire safety due to its proximity to conservation land and unique requirement for quality assurance spaces. Challenges such as tight spatial configurations for safety egress points were overcome through collaborative efforts with fire and civil engineers. The design not only adheres to a modern aesthetic with features like dark glazing, "Monument" aluminium blades, and timber-look entrance but also prioritises functionality and sustainability. It incorporates natural lighting, rooftop solar panels, and specific end-of-trip facilities to enhance user experience. Furthermore, the warehouse includes unique quality assurance rooms designed for testing electronic appliances, distinguishing it from other projects. This thoughtful design optimises operational efficiency and provides comprehensive amenities, echoing a contemporary approach tailored to the needs of its users. • Woolworths Kellyville Grove, located in Kellyville West, has been specifically designed to meet the community's retail needs. Featuring a sizable Woolworths supermarket and an array of specialty retail spaces, including medical facilities and a gym, the development is strategically positioned to benefit from the Memorial Avenue upgrade. Overcoming challenges such as the efficient use of the triangular-shaped site and establishing seamless connections between levels, the project cleverly incorporates a two-level retail and commercial layout, including rooftop parking. Additionally, the design ensures integration with the surrounding areas for an enhanced customer experience. The result is a highly desirable retail space that enhances convenience and meets the community's needs, setting a new standard for leasable retail developments. • 'Still a crown in Brisbane's skyline.' We couldn't agree more! We are incredibly proud to have worked on Skytower, delivering an iconic and unique addition to the Brisbane skyline.

Still a crown in Brisbane’s skyline. Skytower stands tall at 270m, home to 1,141 apartments over 90 floors. It required 47,000 cubic metres of concrete to build and holds the equivalent population of a small inner city suburb. It boasts several firsts – Brisbane’s tallest building, highest occupied floor in Queensland, highest pool in Australia and the largest floor area of any building in Australia. Hutchies began work on the site in 2013 when it was an eight-story hole in the ground, filled with flood water drained from CBD basements to assist in the 2011 Queensland floods. The original rock anchors, left over from the initial basement dig, had expired and were held in place by the water. Before constructing what is now Skytower’s 800-space underground carpark, we had to slowly drain the water using a barge to replace each rock anchor level by level. Constructing the 90-storey tower above was no small feat. It was delivered over four separable portions to enable immediate occupation of the lower sections while we continued to build above. For the final section, we worked closely with CASA to design our own patented hydraulic crane lifting system. The crane was cantilevered off the side of the building at level 66, raised into place during the day and lowered at night to comply with strict Brisbane Airport height limits over the CBD. Completed in 2019, the building won a range of awards, including Project of the Year from Master Builders Queensland, in the same year Hutchies celebrated 100 years as members of MBA. In the face of Australia's growing housing crisis, characterised by escalating prices and a shortage of affordable housing options, the concept of micro-housing emerges as a compelling solution. We were honoured to have Agnes Tiong and Michael Cattoni from Urbis, Simon McCarthy from Systemised Design Group Pty Ltd, and Joseph Joven join us last Thursday to discuss and explore ways micro-housing can be a solution to the housing crisis. The topic sparked great conversations and dialogue and we would like to share this knowledge with you. Read More: https://lnkd.in/gXWBHARz
