We’re a social enterprise helping people with disability lead fulfilling and independent lives.

About us

We are a Queensland-based social enterprise helping people with disability lead fulfilling and independent lives. Over the past 50+ years, we’ve created an integrated network of services to provide people with disability the essentials, routine, and stretch they seek in life. Whether it’s employment, learning, living arrangements, community involvement, or anything else in between – we work alongside people to help them achieve the things they set out to. We do this with the help of our social enterprise businesses, organisational partnerships, and DES and NDIS service streams. We like to think of it as an ecosystem of opportunity. We strive to create an environment where employees openly embrace our mission and vision and can confidently and comfortably live our values every day. We encourage all team members to have ownership of their roles and the impact they have on the lives of people with disability. If you’re looking for a rewarding career with an innovative and diverse social enterprise business, Help could be for you. With our products and services you can create lasting value for your organisation and employment opportunities for people with disability. We can also support you to become an inclusive employer, and see for yourself that inclusion is an asset. We’re actively seeking philanthropic support and partnerships with organisations that share our values and vision, to collectively strengthen the impact of our services. Contact us to explore how we can customise the ideal corporate partnership for your organisation. From site visits and staff volunteering to disability sector speakers, workplace assessments on disability employment readiness, and action planning, together, we can tailor a partnership that makes a real difference.

  • Mitchell’s determination pays off Mitchell has been part of the Help team since 2018, joining us right after finishing school. Over the years, he’s learned many skills and embraced new challenges, including earning his forklift license while working in our Dispatch department. But his dream was to work in our BinSafe product with our manufacturing team. With determination and support, Mitchell overcame challenges and achieved his goal! Now thriving in his new full-time role, Mitchell is learning hands-on skills like welding and more. Trevyn Payne, Manufacturing Team Leader, describes Mitchell as a quick learner: “Mitchell listens carefully, is open to trying everything, and has settled in really well. We’re happy to have him on the team.” After just three weeks in the role, Mitchell has already become a valued member of the team. As he gains confidence, Trevyn plans to give him even more opportunities to grow. For Mitchell, this new role is a dream come true. “I feel good learning new skills, working hands-on, and building things. It’s challenging and requires a lot of concentration, but I enjoy that,” he shares with a big smile. Looking ahead, Mitchell is focused on building his manufacturing skills and refining his technique. “I want to improve the consistency of my work and be ready for wherever manufacturing takes me,” he says. We’re so proud to see Mitchell thriving in a role he’s worked hard to achieve, and we can’t wait to see where his determination leads him next! Looking to build a stronger, more inclusive team? • There’s still a common misconception in the workplace that people with disability need more support to perform their jobs. It’s time to bust myth #8 of our series! The reality is, most employees with disability do not require additional support from their employers. For those who do, a range of support options are available – and they’ll organise it themselves. As we conclude our “Busting Myths on Disability and Employment” series, we hope this has provided valuable information and facts to challenge outdated ideas. By understanding the truth, you can drive your business towards greater inclusivity. This week, as we celebrate International Day of People with Disability, we invite you to choose inclusion and take action towards creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. If you missed any of the other posts in the series, you can catch up and share them with others who might benefit. We’ve gathered them all in one place for easy access: https://lnkd.in/gV44Es4Q Ready to take the next step in building an inclusive workplace? • Kellie’s journey exemplifies the power of leadership and inclusion in the workplace When Kellie first joined Help as a Supported Employee, she lacked confidence in her skills. With the guidance of a coach who recognised her potential, she grew step by step. Her confidence flourished, and she soon embraced new responsibilities, becoming a Team Leader! In this role, Kellie managed daily operations, allocated tasks, monitored quality, and supported her teammates. Her leadership journey aligns with the 2024 International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) theme, ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.’ At Help, we are proud to support people like Kellie who lead with determination and inspire change. And Kellie’s story doesn’t end there – she continues to achieve remarkable milestones! Read Kellie’s full story here: https://lnkd.in/g9FreZxJ Let’s take a moment to reflect on how we can create opportunities for every individual to thrive and lead in their unique way. #IDPwD2024 #RemoveBarriers #InclusionMatters

  • Leadership takes many forms, and at Help, we’re proud to amplify the voices of our Supported Employees through the Supported Employee Committee (SEC). The SEC brings together groups of Supported Employees to share ideas, raise concerns, and collaborate on solutions. Their feedback directly shapes the workplace, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. Jackson and Nick, two of our dedicated Supported Employees, were nominated by their peers to join the SEC. They not only advocated for their colleagues but also presented feedback directly to the Help Board of Directors. By fostering opportunities for growth and collaboration, we ensure our Supported Employees feel respected and play an active role in shaping their workplace. This commitment aligns with the 2024 International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) theme, ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.’ As we continue to celebrate IDPwD, let’s reflect on how we can all play a part in creating a more inclusive and sustainable future. #IDPwD2024 #InclusiveWorkplace #RemoveBarriers

  • Today, we join the global community in celebrating International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), a day dedicated to amplifying the voices of people with disability while fostering greater understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. At Help, we celebrated with an online session with over 200 staff members across the IntoWork Australia. This collaborative conversation highlighted how we support employees, clients, and participants with disability - and how we can do even better. Employees with disability shared their experiences, including how their voices are valued and their unique perspectives drive meaningful change. David Avery, our Chief Operating Officer, also spoke about making our services accessible to people of all abilities. Check out his thoughts in the video: https://lnkd.in/e6DkzFRz Swipe through to see reflections from Jackson, Sam, and Nick – employees who remind us of the power of inclusion and respect in the workplace. Let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made and reflect on how we can strengthen the leadership and inclusivity of people with disability in all aspects of their lives. This ensures everyone can bring their best selves to everything they do. United Nations #IDPwD2024 #InclusiveLeadership #InclusionMatters

  • Outdated assumptions, rooted in feelings and beliefs instead of facts, often lead to misconceptions. Let’s bust myth #7 in our series! Workplace insurance premiums aren’t determined by who you hire - they’re based on workplace accident rates. Research even suggests that people with disability have fewer workplace accidents, with workers' compensation costs as low as 4% compared to other employees. It’s time to rethink outdated beliefs and look at the facts. Workers' compensation and safety costs won’t increase because you hire employees with disability. On the other hand, inclusivity is a valuable asset to your business. Ready to learn more? Contact us today! This post is part of our “Busting Myths on Disability and Employment” series.
