The newly revitalised King Living Showroom in Adelaide combines modern design and functionality to deliver a refined and welcoming customer experience. Completed in two stages to ensure uninterrupted operations, the project involved expanding the existing showroom through demolition works and the integration of new structural steel, roofing and services infrastructure. Premium finishes, including stone flutes, Italian walnut joinery, travertine countertops, and black wall paneling were meticulously selected to uphold King Living's design standards, reflecting the brand's aesthetic while providing an inviting space for customers and staff. In December 1999, David Sanders joined FDC as a General Manager when we were a small team of just 55 working across NSW. Today, we've grown into a team of over 650 across 6 states, completing thousands of projects, building thousands more enduring relationships with our partners, and nurturing a culture that still reflects our humble beginnings. Dave, as he is known to many, has been with us every step of the way. Today, he celebrates 25 years with FDC. FDC's recent refurbishment of 418a Elizabeth Street celebrates the building's original, modernist architecture while also embracing current design principles. Works such as facade upgrades with feature lighting, basement upgrades, a lift lobby upgrade and end of trip amenities upgrades highlight the building's signature kinetic bronze alongside high end finishes such as Artedomus Calacatta benchtops. The heart of the project is the newly introduced rooftop terrace accented with GRC planters and the meditation dome, creating a calming oasis in the heart of Surry Hills. Dutton Wholesale, Australia's largest national wholesaler of pre-owned prestige and luxury vehicles, has officially opened its new headquarters in the Hart Precinct of Essendon Fields, Melbourne. Designed to streamline operations, the new hub enables Dutton Wholesale to efficiently manage inventory, secure premium stock, offer competitive pricing, and ensure rapid vehicle delivery to their nationwide dealer network. The purpose-built facility spans 9,879sqm and features a 5,134sqm warehouse, 503sqm of office space, extensive hardstand areas, and onsite parking. FDC's delivery of Dutton Wholesale marks the third project undertaken within Essendon Fields' Hart Precinct alongside Modscape's 20,000sqm facility, and Autex Acoustics' 10,600sqm building, currently under construction. The topping out of the new Engineering & Australian Astronomical Optics Building at Macquarie University marks the completion of the building's main structure, paving the way for the next exciting phase of construction, ahead of schedule! The ceremony included a traditional smoking ceremony by Dharug elder Uncle Christopher Tobin, an Acknowledgement of Country, and the symbolic placement and water blessing of a Kanooka tree at the building's highest point. This event not only celebrates our progress but also honours the culture heritage of the land on which we build. As facade works and interior fitout continues, we look forward to seeing the innovative teaching and research that will take place within these walls. FDC are proud to announce that the Macquarie University, Michael Kirby Law School has been awarded Best National Commercial / Industrial Construction Award ($50 Million - $100 Million) at the National Master Builder Australia Awards last Saturday in Hobart, Tasmania. Officially opened in March 2024, the Michael Kirby Building is a striking addition to Macquarie University's campus. Named in honour of the esteemed jurist and human rights advocate, the Honourable Dr. Michael Kirby AC CMG, and a former Chancellor of Macquarie University, this building stands testament to the commitment to excellence, collaboration, and positive societal change. The state-of-the-art building features: • A first-of-its-kind floating moot court • Dedicated law student study spaces • Legal clinic rooms • Wallumatta Legal, a not-for-profit family law firm • The Aboriginal Legal Career Pathways program • Home of The Centre For Environmental Law – founded in 1974, and the first of its kind in Australia. In 1887, Merchant House was the centre for merchant pioneers and a hub of diverse trades encompassing everything from wine and spirits to soap, candles, fashion and bookbinding. Fast forward to today, and this historical icon has been transformed. A collaboration between Addenbrooke, Phoenix Property Investors, Super Ocean Group and Bridge Capital, as well as delivery partners WMK Architecture, Woods Bagot, Generate Property Group and FDC, Merchant House's new iteration has elevated it to a place where a 360-degree approach to employee satisfaction and wellness is key to productivity. This 14,000sqm project included adding a modern commercial tower on top of an existing building which required extensive works on the main structure of the building overcoming structural challenges to create a seamless blend of old and new, ensuring the building meets current standards without compromising the historical significance. The vision for this building also included a luxury space, aptly named "The Sanctuary", which has redefined end of trip facilities for all commercial buildings moving forward. This space is an exclusive tenant amenity which incorporates a collection of wellness spaces, yoga activations, steam room, sauna, treatment rooms, flexible-use areas which all offer a tranquil haven in a calming biophilic oasis. The space welcomes it's 185-strong workforce with justaposed warm textured finishes and raw exposed elements, striking a delicate balance of soft and hard finishes with a sense of professionalism.
