Dutton Wholesale, Australia's largest national wholesaler of pre-owned prestige and luxury vehicles, has officially opened its new headquarters in the Hart Precinct of Essendon Fields, Melbourne. Designed to streamline operations, the new hub enables Dutton Wholesale to efficiently manage inventory, secure premium stock, offer competitive pricing, and ensure rapid vehicle delivery to their nationwide dealer network. The purpose-built facility spans 9,879sqm and features a 5,134sqm warehouse, 503sqm of office space, extensive hardstand areas, and onsite parking. FDC's delivery of Dutton Wholesale marks the third project undertaken within Essendon Fields' Hart Precinct alongside Modscape's 20,000sqm facility, and Autex Acoustics' 10,600sqm building, currently under construction. Great to speak to David Walsh at The Star, Sheffield about the exciting transformation happening on Fargate. With a letting having just completed to a fashion retailer for the old H Samuel next door to M&S and another unit going under offer to a national retailer it’s clear that this iconic street is on the is turning the corner after several years of decline. This is in no small part due to the ongoing multi-million pound works to repave the street with new street furniture, subterranean bins and event space and with a rating revaluation following a drop in rents the barriers to entry for new occupiers have reduced significantly and Fargate can be seen as an opportunity for these occupiers. ScS exits fitted-flooring market ScS has released about £30m of flooring sales to other retailers by exiting the fitted-flooring market. The move is the first significant product development at the chain since it was bought by Italian upholstery retailer poltronesofà for £99.4m last October. In the past financial reporting periods ScS had streamlined its flooring offer to improve competitiveness and upped in-store sales conversion rates by 7%. Poltronesofà’s move has seen it place a higher emphasis on sofas and comes as Steve Carson, ScS chief executive, steps down after three years in the role. Flooring has not been abandoned entirely by the chain: it still lists a choice of 129 rugs online. The last four weeks have been incredibly busy for us at Furniture Outlet, and the skies are looking brighter than ever! ☀️ As many of you know, we faced a significant challenge last Christmas when one of our main distribution warehouses was devastated by fire (through no fault of our own). Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to report that 50% of the new steel framework is up, and construction is moving along swiftly. Q1 Chicagoland industrial report out now- •Tenant demand was consistent with the previous quarter, measuring 7.4 million s.f. Demand was most prevalent in the 100-150,000 s.f. size range as 12 lease were signed. These leases comprised half of the overall volume completed in that size range, in 2023. •Although market conditions have weakened, Chicago is poised for a strong finish to the year due to the limited amount of new speculative developments underway, coupled with an increase in tenant inquiries that could absorb a major portion of the remaining big box speculative product.
