The V&V Walsh team represented our premium Amelia Park Angus beef in an exclusive three-day online auction forum in Zhang Jaigang, China last week. This was the first online beef auction of its kind with Alibaba and Jiangsu High Hope, and V&V Walsh Operations Manager Sales & Export Rhys Devitt and Export Sales Manager Paul Crane were able to share the unique attributes of our premium EsT 686 Amelia Park Angus beef brand to more than 100,000 online consumers and businesses. For a two-hour segment, purchasers were able to bid for our 150-day and 200-day Amelia Park Angus steaks (mixed cuts of marble scores 3+). The auction went for three days and attracted 1000’s of bidders and saw some of our premium steaks sell for AUD$50-70 per piece. During the segment Rhys and Paul shared insights around the Australian cattle industry, Amelia Park Angus sourcing methods and the safety and quality assurance protocols of our factory where our meat is processed. “It was a great experience being part of this online auction with thousands of customers and businesses watching online,” Rhys said. “It gave us great insights into how our EsT 686 brand is viewed in China, a lot of the feedback was around our strong reputation for quality.”

About us
Be part of one of Australia’s leading diversified food and agribusiness companies. Work with brands enjoyed globally, showcasing the quality and flavour unique to the pasturelands and waters in which we operate. Established in 1923, our business continues to be influenced by our founders, George Craig and Robert Long Mostyn, who saw action on the battlefields of Europe in the First World War. They returned to Australia determined to build a prosperous nation and improve the lives of their fellow citizens. That drive took them beyond feeding just Australia to becoming pioneers who cultivated world-class produce to share with the country and later the world. Their experience has become our legacy. This legacy has created an innovative and dynamic company at the forefront of new business markets and product opportunities. Operating across Australia from state-of-the-art processing facilities in Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, the Craig Mostyn Group produces fresh pork, beef, lamb, abalone, protein meal and tallow to be distributed to food service, retail and wholesale clients. Our business portfolio includes Linley Valley Pork, Pure Pork, Amelia Park Lamb and Beef, Talloman, Protein Trading and Jade Tiger Abalone. We believe in family, inspire curiosity, encourage collaboration, and operate with integrity. Our bold and progressive business leaders and colleagues are mentors who support innovative thinking, new ideas and individuality so that you can grow to your greatest potential.

Team support is what it's all about at the Craig Mostyn Group. Team members at our rendering plant Talloman showed up with banners in support of their teammate Purchasing Officer Nikki Stubing as she walked 143km to support those impacted by mental health. Nikki pounded the pavement to help raise awareness and funds for One Foot Forward 2024 run by the Black Dog Institute and said her teammates were amazing with their moral support. Nikki felt every bit of our company values of collaboration and family with how they showed up for her and she wanted to shout out a big thank you to everyone who rallied around her! One of our new Linley Valley Pork retail-ready products hit the stores this week, an easy-to-cook Crackling Pork Loin Roast with Tuscan Herb & Garlic seasoning and premium WA Lake Deborah Salt. Saving time for our customers this holiday season, we flavoured the meat with a subtle Tuscan flavour and scored the rind so all home cook's have to do is drizzle the rind with oil and place in the oven. Our tips for a fail-safe crackling are listed on the back of the product and include drying the skin with paper towel and leaving uncovered in the fridge for at least an hour prior. Our Christmas pork loin is now available at select IGA's and Farmer Jack's across WA. #linleyvalleypork #craigmostyngroup #roastpork #porkcrackling #retailready #valueadd #lakedeborahsalt

It's not all just numbers and excel spreadsheets for our finance team…when you work in the agricultural industry it's also boots, PPE and farm visits! Grant Prentice, Vincent Chawla and Jake Ferris hit the road this week and visited our Peter Valley, Marawa, Mt Barker, Cranbrook and Albany farms to get a better understanding of how the sites are managed each day. Finance Manager - Pork & Protein, Grant Prentice, said it was good to understand the challenges each property faces with seasonal fluctuations and the size and scale of the farms. "It was great to see the free range farms and the eco-shelters in Albany, it felt a bit like Star Wars with the wide open landscape and these domed steel huts positioned across the property, it's a beautiful farm at the base of the Porongorups," he said. "The farm teams are all really engaged, they love what they do and were excited to show us around, so it was great to get out of the office and join the teams on site to better understand the daily operations."

Congratulations to the team at Beanstalk AgTech for the insightful WA AgTech Meetup event last week providing the platform for a CEO Reverse Pitch & Innovator Showcase. WA food and agribusinesses leaders got to share their biggest challenges and detail what they're seeking in innovative solutions directly with local innovators. Our CEO Wayne Crofts discussed challenges and potential solutions around traceability, better training of employees through VR technology and solutions to address sustainability and new revenue streams by value-adding waste products including water, nutrients and energy. Craig McLure, Head of Technology for CBH Group, also provided great insights into the challenges in the grain industry and it was fantastic to hear from the innovators including Tom Puddy at SeaStock, Stuart Gunzburg of Nitronic, and Alex Montanari of AGRA Farming Technologies. For the past year, 14 of the country's leading CEOs and board members from across Australia's food value chain have worked as a taskforce to advance the need for a national food system transformation. This included David Foote, Non-Executive Director at Craig Mostyn Group. The Australian Food and Agriculture Industry Taskforce (AFAIT) investigated and identified the necessary food industry reforms and developed a roadmap 'Land of Plenty: Transforming Australia into a Food Superpower', laying out 11 recommendations to transform our food system at the pace and scale required to deliver benefits not just for the next 10 years, but for generations to come. There is a strong belief if the right action is taken now, a future as a world-leading food superpower is well within reach. A huge congratulations to our passionate research intern Cintia Amaral for securing an extended scholarship from the National Industry PhD program. It caps off a stellar year for Cintia who was also a national finalist in the Meat Business Women's 'One to Watch' award this year. Cintia was Craig Mostyn Group’s inaugural summer internship recipient 2023/24 and began her PhD at Murdoch University in March. It was recently announced she was successful in her application for a top up scholarship from the National Industry PhD program with Murdoch University and CMG proudly supporting as the industry partner. Cintia’s project focuses on the use of objective technologies to measure carcass composition in pork and estimate its retail value. She is working within the meat and livestock research team led by Dr Graham Gardner and her PhD supervisors are Professor Gardner, Dr Liselotte Pannier, Dr Fiona Anderson and CMG’s Biosecurity, Animal Welfare and Research Manager Megan Trezona. The National Industry PhD Program is part of a $296 million government initiative to bring together trained researchers to solve industry problems across agriculture, food production, medical research, environmental sustainability, manufacturing and AI. Cintia’s research interests lie in studying new technologies and alternative farm systems that can bring better welfare to farm animals and at the same time improve product quality and resource management, reducing costs on farms and identifying opportunities to create value within the industry. Cintia has been a valuable addition to our CMG team, she brings a wonderfully positive attitude, is driven, works hard and is keen to contribute to the pork industry, well done Cintia and keep up the great work! https://lnkd.in/gZRaZf79 #craigmostyyngroup #cmfarms #wapork #australianresearch #nationalindustryphd #waag #waagriculture #foodproduction

An important article in this week's Business News edition on WA's meat processing industry. Our CEO Wayne Crofts spoke with Tom Zaunmayr about the strong demand for WA protein products and great opportunities in export markets. He also spoke about the challenges around industry bottlenecks with supply chain, around ports and environmental regulations. Craig Mostyn Group has invested $100 million across our three main processing sites to cater to demand and are working closely with government to address some of the critical issues. #craigmostyngroup #vvwalsh #linleyvalleypork #businessnews #wabusinessnews #WAmeatprocessing #waagriculture
