About us

Achieve Australia is a for-purpose community organisation that has been providing accommodation and services to people with disability since 1952. We champion social inclusion, focusing on the individual needs and lives of the people we work with. Our services and supports include: My Home – Accommodation services including Supported Independent Living, drop-in support and community access. My Career – Development of work skills and facilitation of meaningful employment. My Life – Skills building, community participation and the opportunity to pursue passions and hobbies. Achieve is an NDIS registered provider and delivers services in greater Sydney and the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. Our commercial and social enterprises include AchievAble Enterprises packaging and assembly factory and our fabric and needlecraft store, The Sewing Basket. Both enterprises provide meaningful employment to people with disability and are open to business partnerships, volunteers and donations.

  • Achieve Australia works each day to create a truly inclusive Australia. In 2024, we increased our advocacy engagement with governments. We contributed to discussions about the future of the NDIS and hosted decision makers visiting our services to build their understanding of what social inclusion looks like for people with complex disabilities. In 2025, Achieve will continue to be part of the inclusion and NDIS conversation in collaboration with the sector and the people we provide services to.   • Achieve Australia is excited to congratulate our Board Member, 2 x Paralympian Katie Kelly, on her induction into the AusTriathlon Hall of Fame on Sunday. Katie said: "I spoke last night about change, and the importance of all of us being willing to reflect on how we provide our services to our communities, and continually question, is everyone included, are we challenging our own mindsets on how we facilitate and ensure everyone has a place. I am so proud to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, alongside the many incredible athletes who form part of the incredible history of Triathlon. I also acknowledge the many people in Australia Triathlon including David Ferrier and Anne Gripper who worked tirelessly to have Para-triathlon evolve to be part of the Paralympic program.” We are incredibly proud to have Katie as part of our team at Achieve Australia and look forward to supporting her continued efforts to promote inclusivity and excellence in triathlon. Set clear diversity and inclusion goals aligned with your organisations’ values and mission. Step 2: Engage senior leadership Inclusivity starts at the top. Leaders who are committed to fostering inclusivity can drive meaningful change and secure the resources needed to make it happen. Consider working with Diversity and Inclusivity experts to guide your strategy. Step 3: Start small, even with limited resources Explore JobAccess, a government-funded service offering free advice and support for employing people with disabilities.   • An inclusive workplace fosters an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute fully. In the lead up to International Day of People with Disability, we are sharing what we know on where to start. Here are 5 ways you can make a difference: 1. Lead by example Inclusive leadership is key. Actively listen, respect diverse perspectives, and show empathy. When leaders model these behaviours, it sets the tone for the entire organisation. 2. Embed inclusivity in your culture Make inclusion a part of your organisation’s mission, values, and everyday practices. Demonstrate that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to your workplace culture. 3. Support mental health Cultivate a space where mental health can be openly discussed, and employees feel safe seeking help without fear of stigma or judgement. 4.
