Proactive Response Leads to Apprehension in Sydenham Armed Robbery (18 July 2024) Incident: Armed Robbery Public and Apprehension Date: 18 July 2024 Time: 06:57 AM Location: Sneddon Street corner of 9th Avenue, Sydenham A suspect in a silver Renault exited the vehicle and approached two victims, who were walking home, and threatened them with a firearm. The suspect demanded their belongings, but the victims did not have items of value to the perpetrator, who got back into the car and left the scene. The victims reported the incident to the control room, and a lookout was placed. CAP Tactical Officers successfully located the vehicle, apprehended the suspect, and recovered the vehicle on Hamlin Street on the corner of Athol Road, Highlands North. Upon searching the vehicle, JMPD officers who were assisting found a firearm. The suspect and vehicle were then taken to Norwood SAPS Station by JMPD. In order to ensure that the suspect is remanded in custody and put on trial, CAP will assist the SAPS to link him to other cases if possible. It is also critical that victims open cases. In his Netflix documentary, ‘Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones’, Dan Buettner named Singapore as the 6th Blue Zone. Unlike the five original places identified – Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California - where longevity is rooted in centuries of history, culture, and tradition; Singapore's 'engineered' Blue Zone status is the result of planning, legislation and deliberate changes made through policy. Chi Longevity and Andrea B. Maier were featured in the South China Morning Post this week. In an interesting article, Professor Maier explains how enlightened polices have increased Singapore lifespans. The article talks about how "Maier and her team help clients age healthily, to feel energetic and to live full and productive lives well into their seventies and beyond.” Dr. Maier is quoted as saying: “We look for ways to optimise their health, help them feel better and help their body function optimally.” Prof Maier adds that it is never too late to work towards increasing your lifespan and boosting your chances of ageing healthily. “The human body is capable of amazing change when lifestyle habits are improved. The terrorists were killed by their own accomplices, and two others managed to escape. The CTD also recovered a hand grenade and explosive material from the terrorists' den. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the remaining terrorists. This incident is not the first time that terrorists have killed one of their own. The CTD operation is part of the government's efforts to combat terrorism in Pakistan, following the approval of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam. The country has been grappling with various challenges, including economic instability and political unrest, and terrorism has further worsened the situation. There has been a surge in terror incidents, particularly in the bordering provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In August alone, there were 59 attacks, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan being the most affected regions. Until around 2015, the Pakistani military did not pay much attention to its air defence capabilities, at least beyond short-range/point-defence applications. But after 2019, each of the tri-services (Army, Navy, and Air Force) suddenly made acquiring longer-ranged surface-to-air missiles (SAM) and advanced radars a key priority. Why the change? Due to LL Pup J's lack of manners and arousal, as well as his previous owner notes, he would do best in a home without children and needs an owner dedicated to his training and helping him he the best boy we know he can be! He pushed hard to get the door open but I had no problem leashing him. He happily pranced and pulled me as we went to the exit. Once outside, LL was able to go to the bathroom and almost immediately calmed down. For our entire walk together, LL stayed close to my side and would routinely look up at me. It was a warm and sunny day, so LL took advantage of any shady spots and would drop and roll onto his back to enjoy the cool grass and to receive plenty of belly scratches and rubs.
