I attended today's #IRBA webinar on Small and Medium Practices (SMPs) and it was very informative. Some key takeaways; - There is still a market and a future for SMPs in SA. - Capacity and resource constraints are a serious challenge within the SMP space. - Most firms are now open to taking on grads who approach them and send their CVs unsolicited. - IRBA is making an effort to incorporate and give attention to SMPs. - Authenticity is key for SMP owners as it helps attract like minded people whether as clients or staff. - It was Interesting that I got to see many other folks out there who are really passionate about #auditing - Some cool tips on stress management and mental health were also shared. Today, I had the privilege of delivering the opening keynote at the 12th Annual Edition of the National Public Sector Clean Audit Turnaround Indaba 2024, an event that continues to shape the future of governance and accountability in South Africa. My presentation, "Unpacking The PFMA/MFMA Report 2023-2024," focused on this year's theme, "Auditing Controls as a Measure of Accountability." I shared insights with an audience of government officials, auditors, policymakers, and civil society leaders about the crucial role that robust auditing processes play in fostering transparency and driving ethical public administration.
