✨️WHERE WE STARTED✨️
(Selfie taken upon arrival cos if there was no selfie, it didn't happen)
Its September 2018 and we have just been exiled to Robben Island for a week. Completely oblivious to what would be created here. Warren Lucas The Youth Coordinator of the @foundation_sdp , @kirbyphillips and Mpai Rampou in the process of completing their Masters Dissertations , Duncan is in attendance to complete an assignment for his qualification in media @cityvarsity and Raedene Lucas is in the middle of completing her Honours in Sport, Development and Peace University of the Western Cape , nervously preparing to implement a programme she designed as part of one of her assignments.
We were here just spreading the power of sport for development at the First African Youth Forum. Life felt so difficult with all we were juggling, but we were passionate.
By being at Robben Island, the Youth Network was borne as the brainchild of @warrenza, announced at the Sport and Peace Conference and together, with the youth of the forum, we pledged:
“In the spirit of the Olympic Values of Respect, Friendship, Excellence, Balance of Body, Will and Mind and Fair Play – we declare to create a platform that uplifts youth, and that carries the voice of the youth in Africa for Sport, Development and Peace so that we have a space to be heard, a space to share opportunities, and a space to mentor each other for a brighter future, for all.”
