“Swimming was a space where I didn’t have to explain myself. My heads’ under water and if anyone wanted to talk, I couldn’t hear it.” Lizzi Smith, a US paralympic swimmer, shares her story of growing up in a family of 10 and how swimming allowed her to push through any limitations people may have set on her abilities. “I was raised like all my siblings and we never called it a disability so there wasn’t a ton of acknowledgement, I just had to get crafty with tying my shoes and doing the jump rope.” We can't wait to share the rest of Lizzi's story with you! Sport Psychology at the Olympics: Part 17 Injury is almost inevitable in sport, and it can around three times as long to recover mentally, as it does physically. Embracing the opportunities that injury can offer is an important step in the recovery process. Getting back to pre-injury is often a goal that is limiting, instead aiming to develop into a different athlete throughout the recovery process has proven to be much more successful. #sport #sportpsychology #athletics #heptathlon #kjt #johnson-thompson #ennis #thiam #teamgb #teamusa #paris2024 #parisolympics #paris #olympics2024 #olympics

Let everyone know about the community sports center Community sports centers are more diverse and can be a public swimming pool, a gym, a bowling alley, or even a fenced field. Open parks and public schools are the two most commonly built community sports facilities. This concept is relatively common in the United States. As China begins to develop the fitness industry and sports industry and increase mass participation in sports, there should be more community sports venues. #kashinturf #turfmachine

Is a bobsleigh track worth more than 500 trees? The Italian authorities, against the opinion of the IOC, have decided to realise a new bobsleigh track for the 2026 Olympics. All this despite the fact that the track made for the 2006 Olympics in Turin was available. They chose to cut down 500 trees, dispunify a natural area forever and squander 81 million euros. The alternative was the 2006 track recovery (2006, not 1936). Obviously I am not opposed regardless of great works and big events but this is a totally irresponsible choice. This is not only an Italian issue but concerns everyone because this is not how an Olympiad is organised What do you think? Do you agree with me or are you wrong? #environment #sustainability #olympicgames #milanocortina For more: 📌 Follow #ImpressiveEngineering 📌 Click on the 🔔
