It was a spectacular evening ✨ Thank you Delaire Graff Estate 🤩
Celebrating Kindness | HONOURING THE WORK OF THE PEBBLES PROJECT Over 45 donors and special guests came together within the Wine Lounge at Delaire Graff Estate for a special gala event to mark the 20th anniversary of the Pebbles Project, the FACET Foundation’s (For Africa’s Children Every Time) partner charity in South Africa. Owner of Delaire Graff Estate, Laurence Graff OBE, founded FACET in 2008 in response to the devastating impact of poor health and a lack of basic education on the lives and prospects of disadvantaged children and young people. Today, the foundation's vision remains – to make a fundamental difference to communities across southern Africa. To start the evening, invitees were shown an exclusive preview of ‘Kindness’, a short film created to celebrate the Pebbles Project’s anniversary. Evoking a strong emotional response, it follows the journey of three of the charity’s beneficiaries, exemplifying the positive, life-changing difference being made within our local community. Afterwards, Sophia Warner, CEO of the Pebbles Project, took to the stage, sharing an impassioned speech, thanking the charity’s benefactors and providing information on exciting future plans and projects. “It was a great privilege for us to be given the opportunity to invite our loyal donors to our 20th anniversary celebration. Hosted by Delaire Graff Estate, the extraordinary surroundings were the perfect location for this special occasion. As well as marking 20 years since the Pebbles Project was established, we were also able to acknowledge our 10-year partnership with the FACET Foundation. During this time, supported by funding from FACET, we have been able to create and fund a fleet of seven mobile learning centres overseen by 20 employees. We are eternally grateful to Laurence Graff, the Graff team in London and the Delaire Graff Estate team here in South Africa for their unwavering support.” - Sophia Warner, CEO of the Pebbles Project The Pebbles Project: The Pebbles Project enables children and young people from farming communities to access quality education programmes and health, nutrition, and social work services. Yesterday was our 20th birthday! (We were too busy celebrating and didn’t post on here) 🎉🎂 Sophia Warner, Founder and CEO reflects on the last 20 years. "When I look back at where Pebbles started in 2004, with 135 children and a tiny budget, it is hard to believe how much the organisation has grown. In 20 years, we have supported over 3000 children and their families and have raised almost R270 million." "In the early days, we decided that rather than superficially impacting the lives of a big number of children, we would prefer to have a significantly deeper impact on the communities in which we worked. This involved adding layers of programmes, initiatives and services to support every stage and aspect of a child’s life, from conception to employment. It also involved assisting parents, families and communities, not just the individual child." Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey so far 🥰 In celebration of 20 years of impact, our film 'Kindness' is now officially available to view. “Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple effect with no logical end.”― Scott Adams Film sponsored by our wonderful long term donor Hillebrand Gori - A company of DHL https://lnkd.in/dsS-Y6M6 #birthday #anniversary #impact #film #impactfilm #celebrate

Last week, we said a heartfelt goodbye to Ashley as he embarks on an exciting new chapter at Spier Wine Farm 🤩 Ashley has been part of the Pebbles programme since he joined the After-School Club at just 6 years old. Over the years, we've had the privilege of watching him grow, and we couldn’t be prouder of the young man he has become. In 2023 Ashley joined the Pebbles Admin office to complete an 18 month practical internship which forms part of his diploma. He has learnt many new skills being in the Pebbles office and became a very well loved member of the team. We wish you all the best Ashley and we know the team at Spier is so lucky to have you!
