  • Last week, a high-profile delegation led by Group CEO and President Ralph Mupita and Group Fintech CEO Serigne Dioum initiated a four-day journey to explore the markets and nation-states of West and Central Africa. Accompanied by key executives, including SVP Markets Ebenezer Asante, and Group CCO Selorm Adadevoh, the team aimed to bolster MTN’s dedication to advancing digital and financial inclusion while enhancing strategic partnerships throughout the region. The trip kicked off in Côte d’Ivoire, where the leaders engaged with President Alassane Ouattara and other vital figures. Their talks focused on MTN's pledge to upgrade digital infrastructure and financial services, which aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s ambitions for economic growth and digital advancement. Next, the delegation made its way to Cameroon, where they held meetings with prominent officials such as the Prime Minister, Secretary-General, and the local regulator, as well as MTN personnel. The discussions underscored MTN’s plans to invest $300 million within three years to boost connectivity and foster technological innovation, solidifying MTN Cameroon’s pivotal role in the digital landscape. During their visit, Ralph conducted a town hall gathering with MTN Cameroon staff. This meeting provided a platform to share MTN’s vision for the future while gathering valuable employee insights aimed at improving workplace culture and communication. The final stop on their journey was Congo-Brazzaville, where in meetings with local stakeholders, he emphasized the potential for expanding network access to remote areas and accelerating the deployment of 5G technology. These efforts are designed to enhance inclusion and significantly boost the digital economy in Congo-Brazzaville.
