In The Way, Way Back, Sam Rockwell plays an awesomely weird water park manager who doesn’t fulfill his job duties (filters? what filters?), but does take a withdrawn teenager under his wing and provide some much-needed avuncular guidance. Turns out, Rockwell has had some experience with crazy summer jobs himself, and we’re not even counting the colonial theme park he worked at in Choke. At the New York premiere of The Way, Way Back last night, Rockwell shared this odd experience he had in high school: “I dressed up as a Care Bear for George Lucas’s daughter once. Yeah. For 50 dollars. I don’t know what I got out of that. I haven’t gotten a Star Wars movie, so I don’t know if it helped me, but it was cool.” George Lucas, please dig up the photo of this. Now.
