Add/Drop/Withdrawal From a Class

Starting Saturday, August 31, the Add/Drop Period for the full term has ended. 

After the full-term Add/Drop period concludes each semester, students cannot add or drop a course themselves through the portal. 

For late-start terms that have not yet begun (e.g., 2nd 10-week, 2nd 7-week, etc.), students can still add online until those respective deadlines.

Add/Drop period dates for all terms are posted in the Academic Calendar.

Starting September 9, a grade of W will be recorded for any dropped full-term course. 
(See the Academic Calendar for W dates for all other terms.)

November 1 is the last day to drop a full-term course.

September 22 is the last day for a partial refund for a dropped full-term course.

To drop a course or withdraw from the semester, log in to your My Vol State portal with your Vol State email and password at https://portal.volstate.edu

  • Click on Student Forms > Drop/Withdraw Form.
  • Fill out the form completely and submit it. 

We highly recommend that you consult with the Financial Aid Office prior to dropping or withdrawing to find out how it will affect your aid, and whether or not you will owe money back.
