• A common example of a chemical substance is pure water; it
has the same properties and the same ratio of hydrogen to
oxygen whether it is isolated from a river or made in a
laboratory.

• Petrochemicals are chemical products derived from petroleum
• What is Petroleum?
• Evidence points toward petroleum being decayed plants and
animals from 500 million years ago. These organisms,under
heat and pressure and time converted this organic material
into the goods, we call petroleum

1.Polymer
• World's largest producers of polymers.
• Our 2009-10 polymer production (Polypropylene, Polyethylene and
Polyvinyl Chloride) is 4,091 kilo tones.
2.Polyester Intermediates
• 4th largest producer of Paraxylene (PX), 7th of Purified Terephthalic
Acid (PTA) and 7th of Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG).
• In India, it is the largest manufacturer of polyester intermediates
with a market share of 100% in some categories.
• Reliance is the only producer of PX while there are two PTA and
four MEG producers in India.
