The Indian food industry’s annual sales turnover is over Rs.140, 000 crores.
Having established a sound infrastructure, coupled with a widespread
distribution network, the Company now plans to enter this high- growth,
ready-to-eat foods segment.

Product Range

VOFL has clearly segmented its wide product range, comprising oils of Cottonseed,
Groundnut, Soya, mustard and palm. Years of experience and market research – not
to mention a powerful ‘gut feeling’ – has enable the Company to launch the right
product, in the right market, at the right time, in the right manner. Little wonder
then, that almost every product has been a runaway success.

Manufacturing Facility / Infrastructure

Despite the considerable success the company has achieved, it continues to invest
substantial resources in exploring and adopting the latest technological
advancements in their chosen field. Which is what enables their R&D to constantly
come up with new, Innovative solutions.
The manufacturing facility comprises an integrated, continues plant, set up by Alfa
Laval.
About Us

With over a decade of experience behind them, the Vimal Group has earned a solid
reputation for its vision, entrepreneurial spirit and competitive edge. Over the years,
the Group has not only expanded their business through integration and market
penetration, but also branched out into various diversified sectors. Be it edible oils
and de-oiled cakes (of Which VOFL are one of the largest exporters), Milk-Products,
electrical, Submersible Pumps, paints and varnish, wall-tiles and micro- minerals.

Vimal Oil & Foods Ltd. (VOFL), the flagship company of the Vimal Group, was born
way back in 1993, in Mehsana, North Gujarat. While it is still headquartered at
Mehsana, it has setup offices at Delhi, Mumbai & Ahmedabad. What started off with
a small 50-ton Refinery, has today evolved into fully integrated, oil-processing
complex that is into seed crushing (200 TPD), solvent extraction (200 TPD) and oil
refining (300TPD).

The Company has an annual turnover of Rs. 630 Crores. It is listed on the
Ahmedabad and Bombay Stock Exchange.

Strategic Location

A major Advantage of VOFL is its strategic location. The company has intentionally
set up base bang in the middle of an oil-seed belt. This way, it is ensured of a
regular supply of raw material. Having a port close by is an added plus. Finally, its
location on a national Highway, Provides several logistic advantages.

Creating Awareness / Brand Building

But having a good Product is not enough – you need to tell the World about it. This is
why the Company regularly promotes its product through the print, outdoor and
electronic media. And also launches promotional schemes from time to time. When
you have a range like VOFL’s, it becomes imperative to create awareness about and
highlight each product.

Our Network

VOFL’s earlier concentration on Gujarat State has now expanded to North and
Northeast India (covering 21 States in its fold), which has contributed to its growth.
This was quite easily achieved, due to an effective distribution network comprising
26 depots, 950 distributors and over 5 lacks retail outlets. The Company now intends
to adopt a two-pronged approach of opening branches in untapped, potential
markets, and increasing the number of branches in territories where it has already
established its presence.

years of expertise and experience behind them. Moreover, frequent in – house
training sessions are conducted in all departments – be it Production or Accounts or
Sales & Marketing – to increase their knowledge base, and improve their skills. This
self – reliance not only boosts morale and confidence, but also contributes towards a
healthier bottom line.

Our Ventures

Windmills have always been considered a clean - and – green means of generating
power. So as their contribution towards environmental conservation, the Company
installed them in the coastal area of Gujarat, way back in 1996. As fuel generally
accounts for a major chunk of production costs, this is also made sound business
sense, by acting as a shield against ever – spiraling fuel prices.

But the focus on the commercial aspects of their ventures has not made the
Company lose their human touch. The organization cares for its people, as much as
it does for its products. And when we say ‘people’, we refer to all its stakeholders:
the staff, suppliers, clients, shareholders… all the way to its end – users – the
customers. More so, as their products are meant for human consumption. Infect,

Vimal group has its roots in North Gujarat. One of the most respected groups now, it had its humble beginnings
but with a clear vision. And today it has grown to be a conglomerate of 19 group companies. These thriving
companies broadly cater to seven categories: Edible Oils, Dairy, Paints & Micronized Minerals, Ceramics tiles,
Electricals, Engineering and Real Estate.

The days of the group's inception were challenging. Where private enterprise had to work very ingeniously to
overcome bottlenecks of Industrial infrastructure and Investments; Shri C.I.Patel, the founder of the Vimal
Group took it upon himself to steer the enterprising ambitions to greater heights in the era of regulated Indian
markets of the 70s. The ingenious approach thus evolved was to take a route of mass participation and
community benefiting businesses. Consequently, Shri C.I.Patel and those who followed him aligned business
opportunities with the objective of community building. This approach remains enshrined in the Group's ethos to
this day and will continue to guide the way forward.

The rich rewards thus reaped on solid foundation are evident in the year on year growth. The Vimal Group
touched Rs 1500 crore revenues landmark in the year 2008-09. The rapid stride it took in the last decade

In 1992, the group started Vimal Oil & Foods Limited for manufacturing Refined Edible
Oil & De-oiled Cake. Looking at the abundance of raw material and demand of edible
oils Vimal brand was introduced. In North Gujarat rapeseeds and mustard seeds are
available in bulk & consumption of edible oil is high.

Cottonseed, Groundnut Oil & Rapeseed oil were offered under this brand name. Due to
acceptance and growing popularity of the brand, the company planned an expansion. For
this public issue in March 1994 was offered. One of the critical objectives of the issue
was to part finance the project for setting up a 200 TPD Solvent Extraction and 150 TPD
Edible Refined Oil Plant. The Company has at present a 150 TPD Refinery, 200 TPD
Solvent Extraction Plant & 200 TPD seed Crushing facility at the oil-processing
complex.
