ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
Questions:
1. What is a mean?
2. How do you find the mean of a given set of data?
3. What is a median?
4. How do you find the median in a set of data if there is
an odd number of items? if there is an even number of
items?
5. What is a mode?
6. In a given set of data, is it possible to have more than
one mode?

Abstraction/Generalization:

Measures of Central Tendency

MEAN – is the most commonly used measure of central tendency
- is referred to as arithmetic average
The MEAN is the sum of the item values divided by the number of items

MEDIAN is the value of the middle term when the data are
arranged in either ascending or descending order.

Mode is the most frequently occurring value in a given set of

data. In a distribution, it is the item which is repeated the
most number of times.
